how to do those 2 things ?

 

Post unique content, submit to article directories, comment on forums with links to your sites in your signature. Building links will help you move up in the SERPs to get organic, targeted traffic over time. It just takes time and effort.

 

volume of pages in the search engines with unqiue (i didnt say handwritten here!) content.

I would also say tactical partnerships e.g. I have a parenting site and have paid ad deals with a few leading portals who only do media deals and these do far better than adwords.

 

Social bookmarking.. Signature spots.. Article directories... Search engines.. Related blogs... my sources

 

Focusing on helping and providing useful stuff for visitors.

 

Another good method is creating videos then watermarking them with your brand/url and uploading them to youtube.

Secondly DP is great opportunity for your website, thats what l do. Open topics, do some campaigns, and create a nice signature, so people click your website link after they see your posts.

Other than that, I've used article/forum posts, youtube & video posts (HUGE traffic here just for submitting simple tutorial type videos to the engines), social media, PPC, craigsist, gumtree (UK)...and about a hundred other techniques
