Yes, I see that. It seems someone from BSNL or MTNL made a hacking attempt or maybe BSNL and MTNL people are using their most bandwidth.
Its not just you, Rapidshare has actually banned some isp's ip ranges from Egypt and UAE as well. In India both Mtnl broadband and Bsnl broadband ip adresses are banned and its been like that for he last 18 hours. If you have something urgent to download there is a solution at this thread
Yes, we are using there most of the Bandwidth, but many also have premium a/c too. I think its automatic banning by servers.Hope so. Me too Blogged it and Searching and posting for Few Tricks to remove those limitations by Rapidshare. Yes, Even if you have premium a/c. If you are BSNL user then you are not allowed to use Rapidshare !! You must have New IP address starting from 117.XX.XX.XX they banned older users like ME
That sounds unintentional probably from poor programming and forsight. To ban your paid users thats just stupid. But you must do what you have to in order to protect your servers... I know I block IP ranges sometimes also in iptables. I block the entire country China for example on my server becuase many abuse come from there. Also I'm thinking of blocking turkey as I here many hackers are there also. Some countries have shit laws on computers so the hackers flourish without getting legal trouble.
Yes, but its fact. one of my blog commentator left a comment "crapidshare" But i dont think that banning specific IP will solve your Problems, hackers can attack from anywhere.

I am in the UK with a proper premium account I pay for and sometimes I have problems connecting. It wont let me download sometimes and just says connecting! I dont understand how they can get away with blocking people who pay money for the service!
I use a proxy. My own proxies, so there isnt much difference in download speeds Edit: I wrote a detailed post on how to download from rapidshare despite IP banning - might be helpful
I think Rapidshare is just protecting their website. Blame those abusing Rapidshare's system.. I feel sorry for all the honest users though, I know I'd be angry too in a situation like that.
thank god that i am not the only one who is facing this problem... i am currently using mtnl and i am getting the same error this really sucx, my websites are totally dependend on rapidshare!! just bcoz there are many scammers in mtnl & bsnl doesn't mean they can ban the whole isp provider there also are some honest users over here!! this showz how much rapidshare cares abt its users!!
They are banning it for a good reason. I hear rumors all the time about the hack, and the only realistic one is a group of Indian hackers trying to brute their way into the admin panel. I would of done the same, and so would you.
