That's why I didn't say that Africans are the best athletes in the world, I said African-Americans.

Rubbish. African Americans excel at sports suited to their physique. Likewise, people of European descent excel in sports suited to their physique. If you care to look around you might notice these things. Few, if any, African Americans excel in swimming, gymnastics, cycling, marathons, rowing, tennis, and on and on... Their physiques are usually better suited to short bursts of strength (sprinting, jumping, punching etc.). Short bursts of strength (in between longer bursts of commercials) might make a good NFL player, but in the grander scheme of all sport it is only a small contributor.

So basketball is a sport with short bursts that doesn't require stamina?

If rugby or soccer became popular in African-American neighborhoods, they would eventually dominate those sports.

I didn't see the tennis there the first time I skimmed the post. Did you not hear about Wimbledon this year? Where two African American sisters played for the championship? I think there are 5 black girls(give or take) in the US that play tennis and two of them dominate the sport.

Some people of European decent are just as fast, strong, and muscular as African Americans. Have you ever wondered why some people easily gain fat, while others are naturally lean and muscular? If your heritage is that from a country with little natural food supply, you are most likely someone who gains fat easily, and the opposite goes for heritage from countries with adequate food supply. Most African Americans are from Western Africa, their bodies stay lean and muscular because their is no need to store extra energy. As for Europeans, the Eastern, and Mediterranean countries have tons of natural food, hence why they have some of the best athletes, and in shape people. Asians are also naturally lean, because their bodies adapted to tons of food. Everybody is equal with the right training, regardless of nationality. Sorry that got a little off subject, it's quite interesting though.

The reason why sports like swimming, tennis, cycling, and rowing lack people of black descent is because these sports are not popular amongst their culture, well at least in America.

people always get this thing wrong. how do you classify native Americans? i mean the indians who are the real Americans? In USA, anybody who isn't %100 white is classified as black. Native Americans are who we refer to as the black Americans and anybody of the African decent is an African American. Barack Obama is an African American because he is %50 Kenyan and %50 American so is anybody of the African decent. I actually don't see any difference in face and shape between Africans in America and those in Africa. the sun is always burning in Africa while there is snow in America so don't expect the color to be exactly the same but that doesn't make another race.:)

Yes, I did notice Wimbledon. I also noticed most Grand Prix circuit championships this year, (probably unbeknownst to you) the majority of which were won by people of European descent. I even noticed the world rankings for both men and women. But, alas, let's not allow facts get in the way of your formidable ignorance. They tend to spoil things, so let's forget about them - or, better still, let's only use them selectively when they best reinforce our narrow viewpoint ;)

I wasn't the one who made the sweeping statement "Whatever you want to call them they are better athletes than us of European derivation". Nor do I possess the intellectual prowess to back up my arguments with such incisive statements as:

"I think there are 5 black girls(give or take) in the US that play tennis".

    and,

"If rugby or soccer became popular in African-American neighborhoods, they would eventually dominate those sports."

Clearly you are a man of overwhelming intellect and arguing these points with such a capable individual is a fruitless endeavour. ;)

Now, try to negotiate that tea again. The mouth is the one beneath the nostrils. ;)

Are Americans more hardworking than Europeans? But most Americans came from Europe...

umm. And the grand prix circuit relates to our conversation exactly how? Race car drivers are technically athletes, maybe, but nothing akin to the sort we are discussing. Of course when you have an overwhelming impulse to jab at anything American I guess pertinence or relevance doesn't matter much. ;)

Since this response is mostly in first person it's only half silly.

My assertions are easily backed up with undeniable examples. Your assertions are only backed by biased and unsubstantiated claims such as American blacks don't have stamina and they can't play tennis. When clearly this is untrue since they dominate basketball and tennis to some degree even though tennis isn't a popular sport amongst American blacks.

I haven't completely lost faith in your ability to grasp obvious truths even when they don't support your prejudices. ;)

Why does everyone always get this wrong :p. If you were born in America then your an American. Your nationality will be African but you will not be an African-American unless you were born in Africa and moved to America. The same with everyone If your Italian you move to America your an Italian-American. If your Italian and you were born in America then your just an American but your nationality is Italian.

This is not true of the accepted meaning of African-American. You can make a technical argument that holds water, but communication isn't all about abiding by technicalities.

Please explain why its not true? Details details....Your an American if your born in America. Trust me my uncle explained this to me. Hes probably one of the intelligent men i've ever met. Hes the first to put florescent lighting in bendable tubes ;). Also, many other inventions.

Now we are getting to the point where you are projecting prejudice in to your responses to strengthen a weak argument. I have never said that "American blacks don't have stamina". Clearly, something isn't right with the way you are comprehending what is written here. Can you point out to me where I said that?

I said it's not true of the accepted meaning. The accepted meaning for African-American isn't someone who has come from Africa. It is someone who has been here for generations, mostly as a result of the slave trade. You can't just choose your own personal vernacular to apply to conversation even if you can make a technical argument for it.

Wanna demonstrate how much better Europeans are at back peddling? That's sort of like rowing except with the legs, isn't it?

So, let me get this right. To you,

"Their physiques are usually better suited to short bursts of strength (sprinting, jumping, punching etc.)."

    is synonymous with,

    "American blacks don't have stamina."

In the context of you trying to negate the argument that African-Americans are better athletes in general, yes, your statement can certainly be seen as implying that. Because if they do not lack stamina disproportionately to Europeans then your "short burst" argument falls apart.

There is no argument of any basis to try to negate. You made a series of baseless claims, then got very defensive when they were challenged which is understandable to anyone who sees others as having an "overwhelming impulse to jab at anything American".

I am sure we'd all love to hear the "undeniable examples" to substiantiate,

"If rugby or soccer became popular in African-American neighborhoods, they would eventually dominate those sports."

    and,

"I think there are 5 black girls(give or take) in the US that play tennis."

But since your "assertions are easily backed up with undeniable examples" I think we all know they will not be forthcoming.

You're probably a bright lad, despite how you come across. Do yourself a favour, jump off the 'net, get yourself an education and the world might look a little less angry and hostile. ;)

(By the way the Grand Prix does not relate to F1 only. But thanks for the chuckle.)

Haha. I got defensive? I never called anyone else ignorant did I? That's an obvious defense mechanism cloaking itself as dense aggression.

The reason these claims aren't baseless is because they have been proven over and over throughout this country's recent history. At one point in American history whites dominated every sport. As blacks were allowed to play or became interested in a sport they pretty much came to dominate them all, even basketball, even though blacks are "usually better suited to short bursts of strength (sprinting, jumping, punching etc.)."

I honestly don't know much about tennis because for the most part it's seen a pussy sport over here. And that's a sentiment I largely agree with. Tennis is a girls sport that is reigned over at the moment by two African-American sisters. :)
