It's odd that so many people are saying it is slow. It has been very quick for me every time I have tried it. Unfortunately, the actual results have been average to poor for the various test searches I have tried. The theory sounds great, but results are what count.
It's been crawling my site for several months, and yet when i search for my site, it doesn't come up. Using quotes, with the www, without. Nothing. It does however show links to my site on various directorys and and blogs. I think this one belongs to the not quite ready for prime time players club. I don't like the layout either. /2 cents
My sites are not indexed on the first page of results, but our pictures are (used on competitor's listings)! Can't say i like it. Looks fresh, but quality of results or number of search results don't impress me.
I posted my first impressions on my blog: http://www.primakow.net/evan/technology/is-cuil-really-cool/
Works great for me, faster than google or yahoo, even gave good search results. I think this one will give google a run for the money as a search engine once it catches on.
I like the design. But their search results weren't good. Can't search for simple terms. I'm sure they would improve though.
Hey, I was just about to make a post about this haha. It looks very interesting, I like the results page, and the darker look. Very cool search engine in my opinion. I'm gonna give it a try for a little while and see how I like it.
I wonder if they have revised their budgets for servers yet. A tier 1 search engine should never have pages that say: "0 results were returned due to high server load".
They got highlighted by slashdot, bbc as well as on other forums. Many a sites have crashed due to slashdotting, give them a break.
i was just about to write bout this. it is featured on foxnews.com now. a former google employee made this. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,392021,00.html i do not like the results so far.
My mail website is indexed with Cuil I think it needs some time to be in Top 5 . Alexa stats are amazing for Cuil. And i believe that this SE has a promising future as i noticed its fantastic core team here (those ppl are scientists not only webmasters )
Cuil will have to become better marketing guru's if they want to reach the general public. It's funny when I talk with friends, parents or even grandparents, they say things like: "Why don't you Google it?". Google has become a great brand, a great household name and a great product. It will be interesting to see how Cuil positions themselves moving forward or if they make themselves a target for a buyout.
i just noticed that i am #1 for my target keywords on there!. i am number one for voip hardware, sip phones and who knows what else. i was wondering why my sales and traffic kicked up a bit today
