It is designed to have a MAGAZINE LIKE feel, while taking advantage of some of the non-web 2.0 benefits of the internet such as streaming video, tagging, and automatic updates. Looks nice, I would go as far as saying it looks professional. It is very unique and playful, yet it's also informative. My only complaint is that it feels crowded. Seems like there is too much on one page. ~Jeremy~
It is arrogance I think we deserve it.. Besides some video and press releases, this website is 100% ORIGINAL. In most cases we have sought the exclusive use (online OR print) of the professional photographs, videos and stories you see on the website. As the developer I have taken a subject that is underexposed on the internet, and used my expertise on the topic and my skill in web development to bring it to the audience in a way which is both memorable and enjoyable to view. SHREDBC follows the rules of search, so users go from the search engine, straight to a PRESENTATION of what they were looking for - NOTHING IN THE MIDDLE. You read about skiing and snowboarding AS AN ESCAPE and to ENJOY yourself. QUANTITY HERE IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS QUALITY! Without a single update, 10 years from now the website will still look good and still have relevance. How many sites can you say that about? I have posted this on DIGITAL POINT for a reason. This forum is FULL of talented people, selling out their skills to make a quick buck. We put unoriginal, semi-informative content on the web and then drive traffic to it. Why? To get a one way link? To improve page rank? To make a referral to an affiliate program? I am just as guilty of this as most of you! Don't get me wrong! We do what we have to do to make ends meet, because that's the way things are in this web 2.0 world. But things change..... I'll cut this rant short and just say this: If you haven't already do yourself a favour and PUT SOMETHING USEFUL ON THE INTERNET. I don't mean an article, or a quick forum post - I mean a whole website! It may not be the most profitable thing you do in the short term, but it will give you some good insight, and hopefully do a little something to repair the trashy reputation of the internet which we all contribute to.. -Dan
Sorry I didnt like it at all. Too crowded, too busy, amateurish with fonts and colours. Sort of thing an amateur could put together. You'd be better off getting a professional to design it. I'm shocked all these people are saying its so good!
^ What is your criticism in my choice in fonts? I chose to use larger, more simple fonts which would counteract the crowded layout. As I explained, I am going for a MAGAZINE LIKE feel, without sacrificing the search-friendliness of the site. That means it SHOULD be crowded and confusing upon first glance. Yes, your site is very nice. The only small thing that feels less "pro" is the colored tag clouds at the bottom.
I have seen the site now. Sloppy layout, completely unoriginal content - pretty much the EXACT OPPOSITE of what I am going for! I can see why he hates SHREDBC That is one of my innovations I thought it would be cool to categorize tags. The green tags are skiers/snowboarders, red are media (photographers/videographers), blue are ski resorts and purple are everything else.
