you think "googlelites" would know how to work a search engine bc it doesnt work for me... "Sorry, an error occurred. Please try your search again. If the problem persists, please be assured that our team is working quickly to resolve the issue. "
Look at the last three posts chadgarber made here: PS Chad, there are so many search engines that are so much better.
I agree.... please dont make this like the PR threads that dominate this section. search before you post thx malcolm
First of all Google is still the best, Yahoo and MSN are definitely better than Cuil. Cuil's alexa ranking is only 1,426,862 Yahoo is only counting 125 backlinks to the website It is only a PR4 website. Other popular search engines: Ask Jeeves Alta Vista All the Web Highway 61 WebCrawler Infoseek Lycos Go.com Excite Hot Bot Profusion Scour
cuil sucks. I dont know why anyone is comparing to anything right now. Anyone could make an engine like this.
Interesting, but needs a lot of work! For example, I searched on Cuil for a few terms I rank well for in Google. Results? • For one of them, my home page or other sites' links to my home page came up in 8 of the first ten results. I would call that overkill and not very helpful to the surfer. • For another keyword, I came up #1 OK, as expected. But listed with the search result was a nice photo of a couple I've never seen in my life! I clicked on the photo and it went right to my home page. I have no idea why they linked the photo of those unknown people to me. • On a third search, my site or other links to it came up in 4 of the first five results. Again, complete overkill and not useful to the surfer looking for a variety of results. So my first exposure to Cuil leaves me with the impression that they have tons of work to do in order to get useful search results. But here's hoping they succeed. I would love to see Google in a fierce competition for surfers. That type of competition usually leads to better results.
Cuil will never amount anything more than the title of a novelty site. Sure, it's a laugh and a half, and terrific to waste some time on, but come on, do you seriously expect it to bypass Ask, Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc?
Ha! its not that great, colors are not even great, just black , gray and blue, Besides their About page is not working sometimes, and they intend to compete against Google, hmm not like that. But nice try. NEXT. Big G is still BIG G.
I for one will be giving it more than a day to resolve some its bugs. I'm sure they are getting massive traffic by being on the front page of CNN and MSNBC.
