it can EASILY be disabled

my box was 900$ and runs better then I could hope for with vista.

It seems you just don't get it, don't get a shitty box and expect it to run the newest games at full torque.

I prefer neither. It's time for you to stop whining and switch to a Mac.

If you have the hardware to run it, Vista is great. Otherwise, stick to XP or you'll hate it.

    1) A new operating system comes out (insert any OS here) that needs some extra resources to run.
    2) People that buy new computers have little problems, but most race out to buy the OS for old crappy machines and surprise, surprise, it's slow as heck.
    3) The people with new computers go on with life but those with crappy machines race out to the forums to complain how much the new OS sucks.
    4) People read the forums and without knowing anything, perpetuate the notion that the OS sucks.
    5) Groups gang together and praise the previous OS and passionatly detest the new one.
    6) A new OS comes out - goto 1

what cpu and how much ram you have ?

that is not true at all. Most new portable computers sold brand new in shops today here in Switzerland are preloaded with VISTA and have 1GB of Ram not more. booo

I'm not on earth ;) but I'm fairly happy with it. I'd rather they didn't change some of the things that have been in windows for ages like names of things in control panel etc..most other things seem good.

You have to get used to clutch control, handling, how much petrol it consumers in an amount of time so technically you are getting familiar with the enviroment as you do when changing operating systems.

I still prefer to use XP. Vista sucks for me. It loads very slow and often hangs in the middle of my work.

Agreed, it made a pretty substantial improvement. But even before it, I've had no major concerns with it...

    Get better systems ;)

I think Vista is annoying. I would switch back to XP if I could.
Why? It drives me crazy. For one thing the "Task Manager" can't actually kill a process. What it does now is asks nicely to the program to stop. But if the program is being naughty it won't do shit. you have to log off or restart your computer as the Task manager cannot actually kill the process.
The sound processor is incompatible with many programs I used to enjoy to use like Audacity. Now I can no longer stream record off the sound card. File selection is just annoying as hell, it has some effect that glow over it. Its a pain to select files. A real pain. And it pops ups questions alot for permissions, Other then that if those issues could be fixed or changed I would like Vista.

I think most people get Vista simply because it comes pre-installed with the computer.
