Rugby is a tough sport, but come on don't take anything away from American Football. Our players are absolutely the best athletes in the world. We are talking about guys who could also be world class sprinters, power lifters, and professional basketball/baseball players. Every single football play consists of people getting clobbered, at full speed! Pads are not air bags :) and helmets are like weapons, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Y9wt3XkHo If our players didn't wear protection their would literally be people dying, and broken necks every single game.

Besides I think Hockey is probably the toughest sport, and it's multi national. :D

You were in America when you got smacked in the chops... you're confused because you were knocked unconscious and could smell your homeland

    it's ok :)

Exactly. That user is always out defending the US, and can't seem to see every country has problems.

    America has problems no doubt.

And what's wrong? I was joking!

Gosh, I can't even joke or people will get offended (haha) isn't that you all say about Americans. And tell me where it's wrong to defend your country against stupid remarks from outsiders that feel the need to bash our country every chance they get. It's ok to joke, but I know the difference between a friendly joke and something that people really think and believe.

Espeically this joke that you all can't seem to let go

The poncy protective padding is there because the players are so much bigger, stronger and faster in American football, that without the pads, they would have to slow their game down. In other words, without the pads American football would be a completely different sport. Without the pads you'd have 240lb/111kg guys who run a 4.7 40 yard dash who would put the brakes on right before impact and then basically deliver a rubgy style hit that has much less force.(BTW, the football player in the video is 204lbs/92kg and probably runs somewhere around a 4.3 40 yard dash)

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...vs+football+science&ei=CeeMSJztNoWmrgO5ipnOCA

That experiment shows that when a rubgy/football player tackles a standing target the football players exerts 3 times the force, about the same amount of force felt in a 35mph car crash. And in American football the players often run into each other, so who really knows what kind of force a collision between two footballers moving towards each other would create.

Who has the richest billionaire? It is America.

obama wins in this pic for sure! He looks pimpin while the other guy is obviously mad he hasn't gotten laid for 40 years with that Vito(Bams uncle) double chin.

The skinny model is probably an American.

I thought I'd add my 2p to this aruement :)

I give to Sebastian Chabal - 6'3" and 270lbs, though not one of the biggest guys in rugby by any means.

That's not really big in the NFL. At that size in the NFL you could maybe be a defensive end and you should probably be able to run about a 4.7-4.8 40 yard dash.
Here's the big guys of the NFL. Those are offensive linemen, click on any of them randomly, they're pretty much all taller than 6'3 and > 300lbs. Like this random guy I clicked on that's 6'5 335lbs.

Looks like a bit of a fatty! He's an athlete?

    Anyway, talking about athletes,

-Rugby players play both Offence and Defense, NFL has two different teams.
-All Rugby players have to be able to pass, kick, and run the ball, NFL's setup(with breaks inbetween each play) allow for each player to have a specific job.
-Rugby players have to play the entire 80 minutes with only a few minutes stoppages, NFL players have breaks between each play, 3 different types of teams per team, and breaks between quarters. Hell the even have a break when the play time hits 2 minutes.

You are joking right? Americans always have the arms chubby especially here in Canada, it's like a fad. I am european and trust me, girls dont really work out that much but the food their parents make them eat there is way to healthy and it keeps them in the best shape. That is one of the reasons why the europeans are renown for their sexyness.

You'd be surprised how much truth there is in that statement. I called a telecom company in the US and asked for their rates to Europe. There was a puzzled silence before the girl asked: "Europe? What country dat in?". I told her and we were off and running. For a little fun, I then floated, "You've never been to Europe then?" to which she replied, "Not yet, but when me is through with my Master's I'd like to go."
