Hosting? who do u reccomend?

great up time and cheap is good !

 

Obviously everyone is going to recommend someone different and use someone different.

I've been using my present host for around 12 - 18 months and frankly I couldn't be happier. Very little downtime and for my needs they are cheap.

has the best support and uptime I found so far

but they don't allow overselling on their reseller accounts which kind of sucks

 

I've used http://www.deafening-urge.net for a long time. I've become friends with the the main admin and he's quite a security nut.

The service is TOP NOTCH and they will even work out a custom plan for you if your needs dont fall into one of their packages.

Plus - they dont charge extra for additional databases or add on domains.

The server I am on has 4 CPUs and runs at < 0.4 Server Load usually.
It's really fast, they are NEVER down (according to SiteUptime, Refrozen has had 100% uptime for the last few months) and their support is AMAZING (I have never had a question not answered within 10 minutes -- honestly)

hostica.com is very inexpensive. Not sure how good they are for the larger sites, but for the smaller ones i run, they work fine

 

I'm going for asmallorange if u want to do biz with Americans, allabouthosting and unitedhosting if u want to do biz with the Brits.

They are all very cheap and in different ways great pros.
The only con for AAH is that they discontinued their forums a while ago, but I did never regret signing up with them as they offer great customer service and support anyway.

Overall I haven't found anyone that matches the above, of course that doesn't mean there aren't any.

 

Is there an easy way to change hosts without having to save everyting to my computer and re uploading?

 

i think there is.try asking your new host.i'm sure he will be willing to guide you.

 

he he. I just got my own dedicated server from ServerMatrix so I do my own hosting now. The buck stops here!

I am an admin of a host.. so of course I am going to recomend it. http://www.fusionxhost.com. We mainly specify in Free hosting (you have to post in the forums), but if the plans aren't big enough for you there we do paid hosting too.

I'm sure there is a way to do it without downloading to your computer. But what do you do for a backup if you don't have it all local?

 

ive been using www.powweb.com for the past two years. 5 gigs of b/w per day, 2 gig file storage.

 

I've been using sibername.com for quite a while and am really happy with their service.

However, if anyone can recommend a UK based (devices being the UK physically), I'd be interested.
