I disagree in that Wordpress is a CMS that has ALL the qualities of a site build with Dreamweaver and much, much more!

The advantage of Wordpress over any static page designed with Dreamweaver is that, with it, you have the ability to create a "Community" which makes your site so much more search engine friendly and allows you to also highly monetize your site with Adsense or any other tools. With the plugins available to Wordpress users you have the ability to do so much more than with a static website.

PLUS - Learning to use Wordpress is so much easier than a program like Dreamweaver.

And finally (this is my #1 advantage), you can use Wordpress just like a sebsite designed with Dreamweaver by setting the front page as a static page... and you still have the advantage of the community aspect with the built-in blog.

FYI - A Wordpress blog theme that you can do ALL of the above with is located at http://wpremix.com (if the site is down, check back later as they are re-doing the site).

    Hope this helps!

Wow, i am sorry but you guys need to learn what exactly dreamweaver and wordpress do.

Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG editor. It lets you code your design into a website. It's a program on you computer, in all honesty it has no use once it's on the internet.

Wordpress is a CMS, it gives you a backend to updating and running your website. You still need to code your design to work with wordpress which is normally done in dreamweaver or notepad depending on your skill leval.

Personally i use wordpress for everthing. It can be used as a back end for any type of website but i still design all my wordpress themes and such in notepad or dreamweaver if i am in a hurry.

John is right on. Use DW to edit and manage the code in Wordpress. You can use Wordpress's built in Theme Editor, but it's not on the same level with Dreamweaver.

Dreamweaver is a web design and development tool. Wordpress is a CMS and blogging platform.

And there are plugins for Dreamweaver which allow you to edit WP themes without installing WAMP or something like it to run a full-blown worpress install.

Uhh.. you're comparing apples to oranges here. But I'll recommend you stay away from dreamweaver as it has bad coding practice and is horrible for creating websites.

Below are the pros and cons.

    Dreamweaver

    Pros

    • Easy to use
    • Can be used by beginners without much knowledge
    • Lots of tutorials to help the user

    Cons

    • Doesn't look correct in all browsers
    • Makes the entire site full of images (slow load time, bad for search engines)
    • Hardcodes the paths (if you move files around you will be likely to see a broken website)
    • Creates messy code (not good for search engines)

    Wordpress

    Pros

    • Easy to use
    • Can be used by beginners without much knowledge
    • Lots of tutorials to help the user
    • Many plugins to customize the website
    • Many templates to customize the website
    • Easy to edit/remove/add content

    Cons

    • Limits what you can do with the website (can only do what the template or plugin allows for you to do, unless you know how to program)
    • Indexes into Google differently unless specified

Depending upon your application would be what you should do. Blogs (WordPress) tend to have content updated frequently. If you are looking for something like that without the constant updates you should looking into Content Management Systems, CMS, like Joomla. They too are free and have templates.

    Hope this helped.

SCRIPTS ARE NOT WEB DEVELOPING PROGRAMS!!!!!

Shoot, wordpress is a cms, its a script, CMS, whatever you want to call it..

Dreamweaver is a PROGRAM that is run on your computer to code websites..
(if you use the front end then your are hopelessly lost)

wordpress is a CMS that you use to create blogs, you don't do any coding on wordpress... its not a program for webdeveloping, fuck next thing i know joomla and phpnuke/ phpbb are going to be web developing programs...
