I was wondering if anyone uses paypal virtual credit cards to do anything online. If anyone does Id like to hear some of your stories or anything. Also i was wondering if you create too many vccs if it can trace back to your paypal account (even if you delete the cards)
I believe the OP is not referring to using a VCC to verify his paypal account but rather using the Virtual Credit Card plug-ins which Paypal offers to its US customers. He wants to know if anyone have experience using the VCC issued by Paypal to make purchases outside of paypal's domain.
yea. you are more correct, but more blackhat. I thought I already replied to this thread? but apparently not. or something. Anyways its more so just to use them to verify other accounts (that need cc verification)
it doesn't if you have withdrawn to bank account once. However you cannot not use subscription payment feature.
I learned about the Paypal Plug in around three months ago and learned more since. I've spoken to the helpdesk staff at Paypal about purchases that come through the card. All they know is that it ties to your debit card account, and even if you want a reminder of what card it was that you used for x purchase they can't tell that because it is a secured card. I advise that you use it only when you are able to keep absolute track of your usage of it. One advantage to it is that you can literally use a different credit card number for each category or source of purchase. The multiple use card has a long validity period before expiration. The single use card only lasts two months. It is honored in most normal places the same as any other card, but cannot be used for in-person purchases. Where there is a prohibition of the use of the card is something you'd need to check on where you want to use it.
On the plus side, if you act quick and nimbly, you could ask Paypal to keep the receipt in your account and that could record your use of the card and its associated purchase. The problem I find with this however, is that if you miss the link, that ends your record keeping prowess.
You cant add paypal cards ... and any paypal a/c can get limited whether using vcc or real cc .. if you get any hacked payments or suspicious activity. Infact paypal doesnt even know .. whether you have added vcc or real cc .. coz they store only last 4 digits of CC
I sort of got that drift, perhaps you like the fact that the reps on the phone don't know what card you used. I could see pluses to that as well, but if you want a secured card that you can't recoup info on, but you don't want a digital-only card, you can't have that; and if you want a different card so each merchant does not make vulnerable your financial world, but you want to have a record that YOU could recoup, you can't have that either. You get, a secured card that you can't recoup info about, and you get a digital card. Now, try disputing a charge with Mastercard if you don't know the purchase card number. Many people who pay with credit cards through paypal are very happy for the fact that they could dispute it either/or through paypal or through the card. It may be all paypal, but when the mastercard logo is employed, there is a greater benefit. And the merchant's records for credits and returns are tied to the card number used. If you don't know it, tough luck.
I know most of what you said. I am perfectly fine with the VCC I know what they are and what they are for, I was wondering who else uses them. I only use VCC to validate things online that need CC info. then I delete the card so no info passes through. I dont want to use the cards in person or whatever.
