Why I did not hire you for content creation

    Begin rant -

Now we all know that article writing is quite popular. Many English speaking people can do it. There's software around like word to correct grammer, so its not such a hard job.

Whenever I post in the BST > Services > Content Creation forum I get flooded with PMs, IMs etc.

    The problems begin...

I asked people to PM me a sample of their work. Yet I still get people bombarding me on yahoo messenger asking for the job.

People say things like "I wud like to work for u". No, seriously, if I'm going to hire you to write articles, don't come on IM and not even write in standard English. Make a habit of writing properly and your articles will be decent. That's why I usually write all my DP posts in standard English - no text speak etc.

There was another time where I asked for English workers only. I wanted to pay privately by check in our own currency, and being English ensured that the quality was good. I ended up hiring DP member gr8liverpoolfan who did a great job as hes from the UK and did what I asked. I still got bombarded with people from Russia, Eastern Europe and South America who could barely string an English sentence together properly.

    A tip

The people I hired this time applied like I did. They sent a professional PM which was clearly written in a timely manor, proof read and contained everything (samples, rates, methods of writing) that I had asked for. They did not write in text speak. They were very professional, showed me why exactly I should work for them and listed business' that they had written for previously.

Perhaps this will help some people when applying for content creation jobs in the future.

    Rant over.

    Mike

    EDIT -

This was post 11999. Goodbye 11k posts, I will miss you :D

LOL! I get these all the time too. I don't respond to them anymore, because it's a complete waste of time.

I love when they say, "I can writ this stuffs for u. Plz kindly order me"

You're right though, if you're going to apply for a content creation gig, at least make sure your samples and PM are up to par! Otherwise, it's like shooting off your own pecker with a holstered gun.

lol... I find it funny, how they talk in txt speak when asking for a writing job... This is almost as funny as the time, my friend couldn't get a job and she gave me a copy of her CV. It had <3 hearts on it, tons of txt speak and to add it all off a picture of herself xD

It's funny... I don't think these "spammer" will actually take the time to read your well-formed english rant.

Ironically enough Mikey, half the people who are actually English-speaking here have terrible grammar in the first place!

"I am applying to be a garbage man."
    >Alright, you can start tomorrow.
"But... I am kind of afraid of garbage."
    >Well.. you need to touch garbage.

I had the exact same problem hiring article writers when I owned a site that hired writers and then people ordered articles from us.

I am from the UK, I am not great at English but I can write it properly. I also don't have enough time to write articles.

So I make a thread asking people to email my jobs email (because we hired lots of writers and didn't want a mix of IM, PM and posts) yet over only around 40% of people actually did that.

The amount that had spelling mistakes was horrible and I only hired people who made no mistakes in contacting me. In the end only about 10% of people who applied were actually any good and many of those requested higher pay, which shows you get what you pay for.

    Hi mikey1090

I think, as irritating as it can often be, it's part and parcel of being part of the DP community (unfortunately).

I've had some of my posts misunderstood in ways I never knew possible; but for me, I found it amusing and educational. :)

    Congrats on hitting 12k.

    take care...
