Google's Knol

Is anyone earning money from google's knol? I decided to give it a try today and there are several things that I was "surprised" with. First, they want you to leave your whole contact info so that they can call you to verify. Ok, that was done and a minute later I've got a call from an automated service. I was almost ready to start my very first knol, but before that I needed to add the Adsense to my knol account. I've done everything and now it has pending status, and it says that "it may take up to 2 weeks". Wow. If it takes up to 2 weeks to verify an active US based account that I am using for the past 4 years, then I don't know...

Yes, very vague. Funny how fast they can verify your NEW Knol acct., but takes 2 weeks to verify my EXISTING Adsense. It lets the Knol entries run w/o G. having to pay you anything.

guys, relax. Yesterday I thought that was their biggest problem - the slow verification process. Guess what? I've been told today and have just experienced myself - after you publish your knol it simply can't be found anywhere...:D I can't believe it.

Wow and I just read this Line from their introduction page.

BTW you said they require 2 weeks for verification, can anyone write knols before that?

Why does Google need to verify anything? What is the purpose of it? :S

Well it prevents multiple accounts, and verifies that the account holder is really a person.

They're also trying to prevent link farms from spamming the site. Some people aren't interested in giving out their real contact information on the internet. So that process will likely discourage a lot of spammers from signing up. It helps the legitimate people tremendously.
