Why would they ban you for answering a question?

You can easily get banned for answering with spammy links, especially if reply is not very informative or you always include affiliate links. I read on these forums that some guys got even banned from Yahoo, because they abused of Yahoo Answers, so be careful.

Unless you are really contributing to the site, I would look for other options to create links or traffic.

I don't view Y.A. as an SEO tool, but a marketing tool. My login is my website's name.

I've found that if your answer is actually short, polite and links to supporting evidence you tend to win best answer.

Using Yahoo! answers really have both the pros and cons. Way too much time is needed, and you really have to be dedicated as well. For the same amount time if you concentrate on other tactics like articles, directories etc then the total traffic will be much higher.

With Answers you have to do it on a massive scale. Best to outsource.

I get traffic from Yahoo answers, but I don't spam and answer questions relevant to my websites. I like getting best answers and while the link is no follow, best answer links do show up in search results.

I also don't always post my website links, especially if the answer is short.

In the long run it's better to publish the content on your own sites.
No need to worry that someone will ban your account or anything like that.

It's a great source of traffic but conversion is a joke. You're lucky if you even have one conversion :p Maybe I am just too unlucky to pick wrong niche.

It's alright, I could see some good coming out of it. But honestly, it seems more efficient to just add content to an actual websites and working on seo than using yahoo answers.

    Now thats lucky! :D

I post very occasionally and haven't seen but a few views from Yahoo answers... In my opinion the time it takes to answer a bunch of questions isn't worth the few visitors you'll get.

Yahoo answers do provide me with some decent traffic, although it is a bit time consuming, as you will need to answer lots of questions to get some decent traffic.

I think that Yahoo answer is more for the new stage. When you are just building or bringing up your website, Yahoo answers are a good source. After a while, it might not be as time efficient anymore

Just a follow up, got a bunch of best answers, followed by a suspension for policy violation. Apparently there are teams of spammers and if you start poaching into what they consider to be their Answer categories, they'll report you to Yahoo.

    Back to article marketing.

Seems like an awful lot of work. Plus risk of getting banned. Better to spend that time on post content on own site DUH!

I use yahoo answers all the time and I have a 35% best answer rating. The site brings some traffic but not much and only provides me with backlinks for my best answers.
