How odd is that? I just read it on their blog. They're giving a higher rank to their top authors that include a picture. There are a ton of valid reasons not to include a picture, yet ezine decides to discriminate against those people that choose not to put one up. I actually agree with their logic. Your picture establishes credibility and makes you look like a real person. Without a picture you are just another random writing articles. I never had my picture in my profile but thinking about it now, I just might reconsider it.
I don't care. I care about Google rankings, not traffic coming from within EZA. Search traffic is way better if you target the right keywords, and EZA can't influence that themselves unless they specifically ruin any SEO on the specific articles - which I highly doubt they do.
Since i've been submitting articles for earth 4 energy, this is the picture i'm going to use. It can't hurt right?
So what's the problem, just post some academic-looking picture of you, or If you don't have one, just find a random picture on google of a man in a tux
I don't know if this is pure coincidence or what but I just added a picture and about 30 seconds after I uploaded it, 1 of my 10 articles was approved, then 2/10, 3/10, now 8/10 are approved. They were submitted last friday so I guess they were due but kinda weird they go live the 2nd I upload a picture lol.

I don't know what the big deal is, fuck who cares about EA internal rankings, well the Big G doesn't. Fine it will bring a visitor or two every so often but the big traffic comes through the search engines so I don't know what you all are fussing about.
Amem Lemo! I only care about the big boss Google. I can do without Ezine, but it would be like stumbling around in the dark house without Google
And believe you me, after having to wait more than a week to get my articles approve, I am going to rely more on my other methods that are giving quicker results of driving traffic!
Actually being on the top others does help SEO - because it will help your author page have higher pagerank which will pass on to your articles. My top author identity has a PR 3 and I've noticed that my articles under that author name tend to rank higher. Anyway - I understand why EZ is doing this... but it's pain in my butt. I'll have to come up with some photos to use I guess. Not sure what I'm going to do.
Oh yeah that's true. But with all the web 2.0 hub sites out there it's not that big of a deal. I can get tons of high quality backlinks and high rankings through other sites. EA is just a minority.
True enough, it's probably not that big of a deal... But with the time I'm spending on my EZ articles (and the return I'm seeing on them now) I want to have every advantage. I can't imagine EZ will care that much that people are using fake random pictures - but I don't want my account deleted either - so I'll have to look at it a bit closer.
I've had a profile picture before and I'd prove the contrary. I don't thing it makes any difference really. I'm speaking of thousands of articles submitted and I can well tell the difference between having a profile pic or not having one. Al.
I did find this to be true. I hadn't read the blog saying this (well this post is nearly 2 years old and I haven't been at tit that long) but after about a month of using EZA I posted up a photo - and all of a sudden I got more hits and more click-throughs. Nothing else had changed so I personally attributed it to this. Like someone said, maybe people put more credence on a face they can see rather than a faceless name that could be some kid scam artist somewhere!
I'm sure anyone can improve their CTR on their BIO box with a strong call to action and a solid informational article.. The picture might make a difference, usually a hot chick would do the trick (Joking) Al.
