I need a new host, I am presently on the NetXServers and they are probably the least helpful hosts I have ever had. My websites MYSQL keeps crashing for unknown reasons and I don't know why, my hosts are completly inable to help me in solving the issue, or seem to have any knowledge of what they are doing. I need a a host that I guess can handle the specs to my server, which are currently these: I would like a linux server, and something that can handle my forums traffic and solve these MYSQL issues.

Can you let us know more about your forums? How many members online at the same time? How about the session time setting? Which script are you using? Can you familiar with all settings on Apache, PHP, mySQL, etc?

Dear Cameron. I agree with your statement, however, the fact that content is legal or illegal does not make a difference for ddos attacks. About the ddos things themselves, specific cisco products, and other hardware is designed to remain safe when under ddos attacks. I know, that you as a host probably cant help alot with that, however I will still suggest to you that you contact your network owner and tell him they should add specific new hardware to the network setup. Please keep in mind that I am talking about general ddos attacks, denial of service attacks created by a large amount of (hijacked) machines. I will state this as a simple flood attack. I understand there are different types of (ddos) attacks, like syn floods or httpd floods, wich cannot be countered on the same methods. My suggestion is in cases of ddos attacks, to quickly nullroute the IP, and to attach a new ip to the clients services. It is NEVER the clients fault in a ddos attack, you need to understand this. If a client costs you alot of time / money to work with, just explain very clearly to the client what is going on. In the worst case you can ask for administrational fees. But please never blame your client, but blame the criminal organisations that commit the ddos attacks. Thank you.
You can always check pc-core.net They have really cheap dedicated servers under their deals/specials...but if you dont purchase a managed server or some type of additional tech support you cant expect to have all of your problems solved for you by your host, there is probably something in conflict in what you are hosting if your SQL keeps crashing. That or you need better specs that can cope with the traffic...but unless you have over 50,000 users that are active (1-5 posts each per day) you shouldnt need more than a VPS and even if you have more there is always possibility of expanding the vps...Also VPS solutions are usually managed with excellet support

If you have, you can handle management yourself, but if not, you might need a managed server with a good admin. Also, about the number of members online with session time, it will help to find out which server hardware is suitable for your needs. Let us know more details.
