i have a site that has a page indexed by google?, but has no link from any of the site...is it possible that it can be crawled with no links, but only exists in the server?... the subpage was part of the old site...is it possible that it can still be a cache of the index results from google?... thanks...
generally no, the only time have seen this is when someones had the alexa toolbar installed and viewed the page, sometimes it is then somehow possible for it to get cached. usually spiders can only follow links to find it, the only other possibilty is that someone has linked to it from outside of your site?
yes, you can submit your site to get included in the google directory, or if you bought the domain from a drop lots and lots of ways for google to find and crawl your site without getting a linkback
yes it should be able to, e.g you register a domain and start a new site, google will find and crawl the site without you having to submit it.
Yes it is, but I do not know the technicalities of how. I have a few wordpres blogs where all I have done is installed wordpress, no one has linked to them but they have appeared in the index (and sometimes with surprisingly good rankings!).
thanks for the response... what i mean is the page has no link from within my site... that is a possibility...is there anyway i could check for this?...thanks...
Use this tool to check if the pages are indexed Site:yourdomain.com(net,org,etc.) Generally,Google won't be able to index your page if you do not: 1.Have any other pages linking to this page 2.Submit the page to Google
one of my sites had no links no content, I check back a week later to add content it was already indexed. weird...
yes no link from within the site...i used w3.orgs checklink...and did not find the page... yes it is indexed... no i did not submit any sitemap for google... i think some of you dont understand, sorry for my explaination...let me repeat this again...a subpage was indexed by google, but there is absolutely no link to it from the main page...it just exists in the ftp...
Are you having the google toolbar installed? If yes, than this is how google can know about that page.
There could be a link to it from another website that Google has found and that is why it is indexed.
When we revise our sites and no longer use a page should we keep the old page on our hosting serving to give our site more "meat" in the eyes of the indexing spiders?
i think this is the best possibility...but when i checked for backlinks it did not show... anyways i think there is no way for a googlebot to crawl the a page without any link to it even if it exists in the hosting... thank you very much guys...
