How would I go about making sure that one of my domains isn't associated with another? Do I need to buy two hosting packages? If both domains are on the same server, and someone who starts to catch on was to do a whois, that would give me away right? Anything else I need to take care of? One site is controversial, which is why I don't want it being associated with another site, which is professional.
Well if you are on a shared host I think there probably would be a lot of other websites on the same IP and they wouldn't be able to tell you owned both the sites.
On shared hosting there are hundreds of domains so you are quite safe that no one can really associate your domains together. But whois side maybe you want to change it to private Whois so that your information is not shown.
Right, but if for example, someone starts to assume that the same person owns both sites (I can't go into detail why someone would assume this). But if they were, then doing a whois would pretty much give me away. Wouldn't it be too coincidental for both sites to share the same ip?
It would be one in a million chance, but frankly but you are that worried, I guess you can get two web hosting packages and make your domain whois private.
Well, for two reasons. A controversial topic may ruin the image of another professional site. Also, I'm considering creating other sites, and linking them. I hear Google looks down on this if the sites are the same ip?
