Hello all! I'm curious for your opinions on this: 1) What's the most impressive keyword tracker you've seen to date? 2) What extras would you add on that are not present in (1) or in keyword trackers in general?
To start you off here are some things that IMO, are pertinent 1) Keywords tracked also store your competitors rankings (not just your domain) 2) When searching on google.com, an American IP address can be used, or a German one, etc- since results vary massively 3) Fancy charting to display historical rankings / comparisons against competitors / movers and shakers for a particular search term 4) Pagerank / WHOIS / Backlink info (perhaps not sitewide but where most useful)
Great list gala wanderer! 1) and 3) sound good, but 2) is what would be most attractive to me, and seems most to be missing in other keyword trackers.
My site, http://www.keywordenvy.com, does each of these, except #4 mostly because you can find that info out at other great sites. 1) Yes, we do this. You can search your competitor's rankings after you search yours, and it will show all postions they appear in. 2) We query from 5 different servers in USA, and we always query each keyword from the same servers, as 5 servers in the USA give 5 different results, even in a USA search. 3) We have historical charts of your rankings in Flash 4) See above We also allow you to install a tracking code, which lets us tell you the # of searches for each keyword, and what SE your customers use. We can also track conversions per keyword, to tell you what revenue from sales and logins that each keyword and engine generated. I invite you to try KeywordEnvy out, I think you'll find it very useful to you.
Hello thenotself, I signed up to keywordenvy and gave it a whirl. I have some questions 1) When you are tracking my site, do you also store the competitors results or do you store only specified sites and ignore the rest? 2) Is it hardwired to check desired search terms every 1 day, or can the frequency be varied? 3) Do you have problems collecting Yahoo! results? I always found after X amount of requests they give a 999 HTTP response code. p.s. I think the layout is great, if I could change one thing it'd be the "download data" page as the domain links don't appear too visible upon clicking.
@gala_wanderer 1) We also store the competitor's results. You can search through all of the results we collect by using the "Spy on your competitors" feature. It's available in the menu on the left. You can also use it to compare your ranking to your competitor. 2) It checks every day, currently there is no way to change that. Are you hoping to check more frequently, or less often? 3) All search engines try to prevent rank tracking services. We are using many ways to get around this, although it's difficult. This is why KeywordEnvy does much more than just rank tracking. We are considering a new version that allows you to host the module that tracks ranking, which will allow us to monitor rankings for many people, without going over the search engine limits for queries/day. This would mean you'd have to host a small php file on your server. I hope these answers help.
