@SilkySmooth. I did that (archive.org).. and the very first result Aug 15, 2000 shows cantufind as directory that's promoting 'safe search' and 'family friendly search' :)

I clicked on other years too and found the same thing !! I think it's an 8 years old directory. I didn't know that before .. so thanks for asking jaboora to check it.

The confusion arises because the directory used to be called The Orange Pages but the URL was indeed cantufind.com

It's at least 2004, that I can personally verify from my own data.

Thanks for your input Dan but I'm not going to say anymore, as Jiten quite rightly pointed out in a PM this has gone off topic so I will leave it at that.

@Obelia, btw very nice little directory you have there. Never seen that one before and a nice little play on words, I like it :)

That is to be my observation also but not to be being a problematic thing. It is to be entitled to call itself any colour pages if it is wanting to. It is to have always been directory which is point of SilkySmooth need to question. Why such need to discredit is to defy logic.

True or false - Has cantufind.com ever been used as anything but a directory?

Answer: No. False. 100% false. CantUFind.com always has, and presumably always will incorporate a directory in their site. The way directories are going, I can see it maintaining itself as by far the 'safest' search directory on the net that I've come across, but will likely add more features and ideas into the site.

Simple - They played under the name CantUFind, and maintained the domain name - then placed their new brand The Orange Pages onto CantUFind, then eventually moved Orange Pages to its own respective domain and fully reinstated the CantUFind brand. The internet archives are never gonna lie to you;)

Irrespective of branding, the domain name cantufind.com has always been a directory.

Hmmm, September 26th, 2005 it looks distinctly like a search engine with the directory seperated off (and linked to) under theorangepages.com brand, but hey what do I know.

Oh oh. Looks like in your wisdom you failed to read:

"For regular users of The Orange Pages the Directory will be restored within days." Doh!

Hey Dude what's your bug with Cantufind.com? Its better than 99% of the crap out there including yours, I did do some checking as it was/is on my hit list of directories to review. Unlike some I took the time to write to them and ASK them instead of spewing out crap like you seem to be doing.

It's been a DIRECTORY for 8 years and you need to live with that fact just like the rest of us. Concentrate on your own house before trying to put others down would be good dude.

You need to get a life man, green eyes or what.

Hehe, funny who pops out of the woodwork... which alter ego will you be bringing to the table next I wonder.

Just to clarify I dont have a bug with cantufind.com and yes it is better than a lot of crap out there including mine, but then I dont go around making such claims.

PM me if you need directories for link popularity building, not for traffic.

    Thanks for your comments, Silky.

Here's a thread I made in 2006 about older directories, and all of these have been around since 2005 or earlier. Some of the links will be dead or no longer directories, though, I haven't checked lately.
