10 - domain name - you should carry atleast one primary keyword in your domain e.g. if you are making a site on mobile downloads/stuff you should have *mobile* in your domain - that would surely help.

Actually it makes me warm and fuzzy knowing there's not much competition....... But the main point is meta data is important to the search engines, Yahoo loves meta data done correctly and with the right targeted keywords Yahoo can make you $10,000s per month from organic SERP.
Funny because a lot of the people on SEO chat would fight you tooth and nail for a month on this issue. Have you tested it recently? I'm not claiming either side, I actually was in the argument that meta descriptions were valuable to seo vs making google to pull from the body of every page (which is more work most of the time anyway).
They could but only 5 of us can be the top 5 authors there, and I haven't written there in a few year and I don't need to spend time arguing with anyone, as my stats show me I am right for my situtation. My point is there is more than Google that will send traffic to a website. Some of those engines do rely on meta data. Googles Guidelines still refer to developing websites according to standards, and standards still call for meta data, last I checked. I'll believe Google over most anyone else in regards to the subject. Besides if it wasn't used, how come Quality Score goes up when used in PPC marketing?
This one is kind of hard to explain but I'll do my best. I have a few sites where the home page of the site has multiple #1 rankings in Google for different but related keyword phrases. For any new related phrase I want to get ranked for, I place it on the home page within the copy (usually as a paragraph header) and get 2-3 text links pointed to it, and within 2 weeks, that phrase will have a top ranking in Google as well. enjoy.

This will bring up a number of metrics on each of the links listed such as its PR, and the number of yahoo backlinks to the linking page in question, allowing you to quickly get a feel for the backlink strength of a page. 3. Yahoo seems to order thier results of a link:www.site.com command in thier own order of strength, so if a link is appearing high in this command, and seo quake is showing a good PR of the page with the link, you are having two search engines give it it's approval. 4. Pick high ranking pages for compedative terms and analyze thier backlinks to uncover thier backlink strategy. This can be used to determine the backlink strategy of highly successfully seo'ed pages.
