hi people. This is my first web site www.writersfraternity.com. i designed it all by my self. why i feel so good about ? 1) i dont even know HTML which is basic for web designing but i made my own web site. 2) i did not use any template, i built it from scratch. 3) even the flash that you see in the web site is designed by me. 4) above all , its my first web site, no matter how it looks, i feel good about it. total cost = 15$ for hosting 6 months domain =10$ for 1 year. total cost is 25$
I like the concept but I think the overall design could be better, I think you should get a different theme for the site.
Yeah I agree.. it looks kind of 90's. But for a first website its not bad at all. I would work on the layout (not centered/looks like it was specifically designed for aol). Learn some CSS for your next project. Great for a first site though.. you should have seen mine
For your first website, this really isn't bad Your buttons on the left would look much nicer if the white was cropped out around them. Add some color towards the bottom to keep the feel of the page going and it would look much better. As others have said, this is an older looking website. But you can't just jump on the Web 2.0 wagon without decent knowledge of HTML/CSS. Very nice first website ~Jeremy~
I think you've done a great job building your first website! It does look a little old, but hey Retro is in these days! And you should be damn proud of teaching yourself all of the HTML you learned. It's not easy. I got a lot of HTML down from searches and trial and error. Your next step should be to focus on CSS and then PHP. This makes updating your site and layout MUCH easier. But overall you've done a FINE job Good luck!
looks nice.. but u could make it better. im started learning html like last year when i first have a blog. now im geting better and better. =)
Very nice for your first website. This looks 100 times better then the first one I did. You may want to try validating the markup on the site to make it more accessible to all browsers by running it through the w3c utility here: http://validator.w3.org/
Like Pat have just mentioned, it looks good for a first time designer (beginner) like you. So given that fact. I won't bash on your design. Design seems to be understood in your level. You could always enhance your skills by mastering your HTML coding and learn valid XHTML/CSS code. Thus, not only in terms of coding. Work on your graphical style. Good luck!
thanks for the comments peoepl, its very encouraging. will surely learn some CSS stuff. for ma next project.
Nice site, something quite simple but will help... Open your button images in photoshop and make the white transparent. It will make a vast difference...!
Good job for your first site. I would listen to everyone above and consider the changes that they are requesting. I would also consider going into the .fla for the image loop and smoothing it out. Its a bit jumpy and the images dont stay solid long enough. Good Job though.
I think for your first website it's great, but I would say that you should try and make your future projects a bit less flat, give it some dimension, use web 2.0, and stuff like that...
