    Hi Bloodwrath,
Do you want a template created for you, or are you looking for free templates?
I create templates that are 95% CSS. I usually use one table to hold the information, as I find Internet Explorer doesnt like all the CSS!

    Cheers

Did you check out shape5? I use their templates myself because of the quality and possibilities to easily adapt them to my needs.

You can find them at shape5.com

    Best regards,
    Marco

Bloodrath, I feel your pain. The majority of the professional club Joomla templates IMHO suffer from bloat. If stripped-down CSS/XHTML simplicity is your goal, I strongly suggest you look at Club Joomla, created by Pixelsparadise. I belong to both Joomla Art and Club Joomla, and Club Joomla has saved my butt on many an occasion. Their templates are the cleanest, prettiest things I've seen in a long time, and very easy to customize because they are not javascripted and ajaxed to death. It is because they're so simple that I've been able to take them and shape them into whatever I need in a very short amount of time.

Another big plus for me regarding Club Joomla is their license. Read it... it is a webmaster's dream! Paid members can use the CJ templates wherever they want, however they want, and you don't have to register each individual site (like you do with Joomla Art). I found them through this site, and I am sure glad I did.

I typically don't like "clubs," so Club Joomla gets a very rare endorsement from me. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. Nope, I don't have any stock in them - just like a good product when I see it. :)

Im currently using a joomla art template, and the css file is 1000+ lines, has over 120+ css images and the code is bloated.

Ive spent many hours, stripping down the code, removing css, its such a pain.

Bratzilla ill check out Club Joomla
    thanks

To be honest you hardly need any of the stuff you get in a lot of Joomla templates. If you know you're only going to have one menu, main content and say perhaps something going on in a left or right column you can pretty much use any HTML template out there and bung in 3 module positions and the content position, then a tiny bit of php code at the top and it's done.

yes but i need to learn a tad more about programming, i can make a basic joomla template, just havent put in the time to make a nice & functional template

Yes JA templates have a ton of cool features, but i dont need that, i want clean & lean for a template.

There isn't that much programming that needs to be actually in the template though, aside from perhaps an 'if' statement here or there to only display certain module positions (or chunks of HTML) in certain circumstances. Most of it is just plane old HTML and CSS.

Another option, since creating one from scratch is something you clearly don't want to do, is to look through some bare-bones free ones. Have you ever searched Joomla24? That site mirrors the TONS of free Joomla templates from joomlaos.de. The site claims it has over 1500 free templates, and I know that joomlaos.de had over a thousand, so that could very well be true.

Maybe there is something simple in the freebies there you could use.

I use Rocket Theme and I find it okay. But now, if possible, I will stay away from Joomla because of its complexity and heavy coding. It's good if you have a community with multiple users.

Another good resource is JoomlaDesigns.co.uk . I don't remember what I paid to join but it was pretty cheap, and they have some nice free templates also. But more importantly, their templates are very simple in design. Also, they have versions for both Joomla 1.0 and 1.5. They have demos for all their templates, both in a demo server with frames and a Flash based demo, which is pretty cool.
