How do you go about disabling right clicking on a web site so your information on your site is a bit more protected from copy write?
You can use JavaScript to do it. http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/noright.htm http://www.reconn.us/content/view/36/45/ etc... But honestly, don't bother. It's really annoying, and for anyone who wants to see your source, they can just hit CTRL+U in Firefox (and whatever the equiv is in other browsers).
Kerosene is correct; it may limit the noobs of the Web but it's just as easy to get to view source via the View -> menu in Firefox or Ctrl + U. Or just disabling Javascript.
Thats equally as pointless. If you put something online, if somebody wants it they WILL get it. End of.
Everything you can do is pointless. If it's online and decent at all it'll be stolen. It's happened to me too many times.
Here's the definitive word: You can't. Nothing you publish to the web can be hidden. In particular, Firefox users would have to explicitly allow you to cripple their browser. cheers, gary
Thats right.. once you published it over the internet then it is ready for public viewing and grabbing.
No, there are methods of encryption that work when it comes to hiding source. It scrambles the original code into something the browser will understand, not even a decompiler or even into a working language.
It's not so much what you don't know that's the problem, it's what you do know that just isn't so. gary
If you are looking to protect images then a simple watermark could help you... And if it is text then you could always go to the trouble of creating an image full of text then watermark that. On the whole I agree with what the others are saying; it is very hard indeed to protect your copyright on the internet.
That's not mocking. You made an outrageous claim, and were asked to provide a proof. I, for one, will not go chasing after a chimera. You made the claim, it's up to you to back it up. gary
Google around. Last time I implemented the hiding of source was 3-4 years ago on my personal site. It lasted only about a week because it was a hassle, but it worked. Don't back up idiots, instead figure it out on your own, that's what I did. Learn how to use Google. I don't remember the exact application I used, but I'm in the business of security, something you have no experience to my level in, and so cannot simply doubt. There are applications that can do this, search.
Yousif, nicangeli simply asked you to back up your claim (something that you still have not done). I don't understand why you are being so defensive as it was a very straightforward request and they are more than entitled to ask. I have searched around myself and have not found anything that is 100% secure. Can you be more specific such as product name / partial name or even search terms you used? I understand you are in the business of security, however the assumption that you have more experience than everyone else in this forum without knowing what everyone else does is yet again an outrageous claim. If you're not able to provide evidence, please just say so rather than insulting others.
I doubt that. Who? nicangeli? He simply asked you to back up your own statement. And, where do you get the idea I don't know how to use Google? You made the ignorant statement. It's not my job to locate a proof for you. That's your job. I don't doubt that. I do doubt that. You have no idea of my level of security knowledge. So you say. Why can't you offer a proof? I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about. Without proof of there being anything like you're talking about, I can only infer you're talking through your hat. This ends my participation in this thread until such time as you provide evidence to corroborate your statement. I would suggest you stop disseminating false information, lest you look the fool. gary
The Google search queries I used were 'encrypted web source' and 'hide your html source'. Those should get you some nice results.
I'm not sure if this is the best compared to what I used to have, but: http://www.iwebtool.com/html_encrypter --- It doesn't look like there's a decrypter for that. It's encoded javascript, perhaps it can be returned to it's original format, but it certainly wouldn't look the same as the code would be display horizontal. That'd make it hard to work with. Just my 2 cents on this subject, because like I said on my long ago personal website, I didn't want to share my source code so I tried to find applications and methods, but it turned out that only one program I found worked. It was freeware and it was more than 3-4 years ago, I deleted it after use. I think with that in mind, it's reasonable that I don't remember what it was called.
