Cant get good traffic from SEO

I have a website with ringtones and don't know how to get more traffic

I did a lot of SEO and my website is quite well ranked on 'popular' keywords (checked on google trends) but it doesnt bring me a lot of visits around 300 per day.

Does anybody have ideas how to get more traffic?

I would pay somebody and I will be happy to try new things...

300 per day is a fairly decent amount of traffic il say. The problem is not getting more traffic but to montize the existing traffic your getting. You could try building a list, you know what they say "money is in the list" If you need any help pm or something.

 

300 views a day just from search engine traffic would not be regarded as being bad traffic, however if you don't rank in the top 5 for highly searched keywords then your not going to get anymore traffic.

SEO is a long term process, traffic generally increases with time so i would stick with it.

 

ringtones is a highly competitive niche that is why you are finding it so hard to get traffic from SEO. Perhaps you could explain what you are doing SEO'wise so we could comment further.

 

How many searches does your keywords have per day? Where are you ranked for these keywords?

You should use analytics and sitemaps to find out exactly where you stand. You will then be able to see how much extra traffic would be available if you were to get higher rankings.

If you are ranked at the top for your keywords it may be that your keywords dont have that many searches so you're never going to get much more traffic. If this is the case you need different keywords. Do some keyword research to find out.

mp3 ringtones
funny ringtones

their generate most of the visits but I would expect much more

are those not very popular keywords?

Its about bagging lots of search terms though nt just 2 and I would not expect them to be the most search terms possiable for your niche. Also dont forget about other search engines like many people do try to spread your efforts a little.

This way if you lose your position in one at least you have many more keeping you going.

Also top 10 is not the be all and end all, search terms like that the user would not really get past the top 5 as the top 5 would most likely have what the user was looking for.

Just keep working at it optimizing your site for search engines is something which takes time, keep working away at it and keep looking at new ways of expaning your marketing project.

300 a day is well above average. That is VERY good. I'm surprised you are even getting that. Are you sure that some of it aren't bots???

But, as you already found out, just about all of search engine traffic is worthless.

 

There are a couple of things, you can try to get more traffic. The most important one of course is to get a good customer binding. One idea, that springs to mind: Consider giving away x free or discount ringtones per day in random time intervals the give away is triggered by whoever clicks the "give me freebee" button/link first. Turn it into an easteregg hunt, by placing the button/link in equally random positions (those ringtone boxes are perfectly for it, select a different one each time).
It's likely, that your customers will check back more often in order to sack the goodie. Everytime they do, but don't get the easteregg, there is a chance, they will buy something instead.

 

Now THAT'S a good idea.

 

i would say try out for some longtail keywords .. those are really effective

I am trying to get in top 10 on 'ringtones'. Extreme but I am already somwehere around top 150

n3o - what kind of longtail keywords you have in mind?

Long tail keywords like

"where to get mp3 ringtones"
"good quality SE ringtones"
"britney spears mp3 ringtone"

etc

Basically it's been shown that long tail keywords convert better then one or two word keywords.

So to get more traffic you might want to search for keywords that have 30-50 searches per day and try to rank high on them.

If you rank high for 10-20 of those you'll get 500+ more visitors per day.

That's interesting.

 

Top 150 mean you are on page 15. I believe you will get more than 1k uv on daily basis if you hit the top 10 mark. Try to build more links with the "same anchor text".
