I'd say go for the last 2 models, they have more ram and have a 800fsb instead of 667... and then when u get it format it and put good ol' xp or ubuntu on it
thanks man yeah that was what i was gonna do, but just wanted some feedback on the overall performance for price. it comes with vista home, do u recommend me taking that of and adding xp then?
anything is better than vista..in my opinion.. my experiences with trying to program in vista have not been nice..
really can you eplain what problems you have come accross? how would i get xp? i don't think i have install disks :S
Nice spec. Go for the highest specification if it still suit your budget. Laptop is hard to upgrade, so getting a better laptop is much better for long term investment.
Sure, here are a few reasons: 1. You buy it. Take it out of the box and plug it in. That's it! 2. No viruses that will harm you. Sometimes a virus will be made but will be patched very quickly, also, they're not widespread. So the chances of getting one are 1 in a million. 3. OSX is much more intuitive than XP or Vista. Almost the features in Vista are stolen from OSX 4. More software right out of the box. Such as iLife. 5. Easier to install programs and easier to operate than PC. 6. Real customer support. 7. A Mac will out live your PC by years 8. Mac can run windows if you really need windows 9. There is ALWAYS an alternative to software on the Mac. So if you have one program on XP, chances are, that same program, OR a program like it (most likely will be better) will be on the Mac. 10. All Macs are REALLY nice. 11. Very customizable UI. I can change all my icons, my dock, and other things with just one amazing program. 12. Things just work. If you think something should work, chances are it will on OSX.
based on your needs I think you will be more happier with XP OS and I think this New DELL doesn't have any drivers support for XP. If you would like you can always have HP laptops with same specs and I guess more cheaper. And you can always find ways to install XP os. Like what I have HP Pavillion DV2815NR - HP Support doesn't have any XP drivers for it but still you can find drivers compatible for this laptop in HP forums. By the way how much is your budget?
I have a Dell Inspiron, and my sister has a Dell Studio. I say to go for it! Dell make the best laptops. Vista aint too bad!
thanks man! can you ask ur sis to give some feedback on the dell studio? is it better/worse than the Inspiron? thx
ahh that sucks, ill have a look at HP tonight, but i don' think ill be able to find one with as much ram (4gb) as the studio. my budget is around £900 ($1700)
