When i type in anything to google usually the first or second link is to an article on Wikipedia. If you were to do an article on your company (if the company is a large wellish known company) and submit it to wikipedia would this help with search engine optimisation for your company or not?
It will not help because I don't think they will allow links to your company. This is more of an online dictionary or encyclopedia and they strive to keep the data non commercial.
Hi thanks for the reply It was not so much for the links but for the high positioning on information relating to your company
if you can get your article on wiki, then go for it. even tho it will not help on SEO, traffic and brand awareness do count and help. by the way, i doubt wikipedia will accept any commercial article for a company. it is purely resource based and non-commercial
I concur. Wikipedia is a reputable site and if you can make them linking to you, dofollow or nofollow, it will be good.
Wikipedia is not worthwhile as a marketing tactic because website considers these kinds of links to be spam.
Wiki is good for traffic if you can get your link in there, i had my link in there for a while on a quite well known subject and was receiving about 120 unqiues a month, obviously not amazing but it was relevant to my site.
If you want link from Wikipedia, just create an account there and fill you profile with your URL. I don't know the link will dofollow and nofollow.
Yeah, it still can be useful if visitors stumble across it and then visit the company website as a result!
