What do you guys think is more important for ranking high in Googles search engine results? Getting links from pages with high PR, or getting links from sites with related content.

And yes i know both are important, but if you could pick one what would it be?

I prefer sites with related content. Not only will the PR they share with you be beneficial, but you will also have a higher likelihood of individuals actually visiting your website from those links.

Also, sites with high PR are very difficult to get links from because they have High PR for a reason and that is they don't give out links very easily. For the ones that do give or sell links they typically have tons per page and the PR Juice they share is greatly reduced making them less valuable to your site.

So IMO go with related content and sites with low external link volumes.

Well what you want is what you should go after.

Let me clarify. If you're looking to build PR for your page, go for for the high PR link. If you're looking to build authority for your niche then go after related content, as this will build authority for you.

Get along to where you are related will be better, getting backlinks from high PR might suspicious you are involved in manipulating PR.

when you say related, do you mean that the keywords on the page match up to a certain extent? to what extent would mean the link is related?

It's better if we can have both but since I can only choose 1, I would still go for sites with related content but with decent content rather than high PR sites but totally non-related.

If it is an either or I would go for related content.

Ideally related content sites with nice pr would be good.

The correct answer isn't an 'either or'. You should actually be looking for both. You need links from related content with high pr.

One without the other isn't nearly as effective. If you have links from unrelated site with PR, the link juice will most likely be discounted, especially if the link is from a directory. If you have links from related sites with no RP, you may get a little more traffic directly, but it won't help much with your SERPs.

I would ONLY target links from related sites with pr2 or greater.

I mean if you run a site about dogs, you should look for high pr links from other sites related to dogs..

If you get backlinks from high PR pages that is good, but if the page is also related to yours, then that will be uch better.

ok, agreed, I am wondering what about a site that is about everything, like if you blog about everything in your life, like what you ate for breakfast, your dog, school, the football game, just every day life

every site you get links from will probably be related to something in your site then, so it should all be good, right?
