How to Recover Lost Domain Taken by Scammer On This Section

Discussion in 'Domains' started by tukarinfobispak, Jul 19, 2008.

I post this message on this section because my domain was taken by scammer over here and i want to share my steps on how to have my domain name back into my account.

    Chronologies:
My domain name posted to sell on this thread and bought by someone with paypal's verified user.
I got payment on my paypal and domain name pushed to buyer (scammer on my case).

How i know i'm a victim of scammer.
In the next day after transaction, i got mail from paypal.
Money come from this transaction freeze / hold by paypal.
At this point i know that a buyer of my domain is scammer
Words "to ensure that PayPal is secure for all users" on paypal's email, later at the end i use to force paypal to release the money (sorry that i don't want to share and discuss here).

What i did after i know i'm a victim of scammer.
Provide paypal all informations as per request.
Mail to to have my domain back into my account.
    I got reply from godaddy:
I sent all related documents to godady: Request for Undo of Change of Registrant form + identity card, Auto-generated emails when the domain was changed, Auto-generated email when the domain was received, Auto-generated email GoDaddy.com Order Confirmation.
    I got reply form godaddy:
    And finally this email:
    Finally.
I got my domain name back into my account.
I don't want to mention and have further discussion here about the money status on my paypal.
Thanks God, thanks to GoDaddy and thanks to PayPal.
Like in the movie, at the end, who are honest and play fair will become a winner.

Hope this post will be useful for other members who sell domain on this section and scammed by someone.

Fortunately for you this turned out well enough in the end.
Most others - even when they follow all those steps you outlined - are not so lucky.
I guess it's a hit miss with Godaddy, whether or not they will get involved.

Congratulations on getting your domain name back.

well we were recently a victim of several paypal fraud.

lesson learned was to email the sender after a few hours of receiving money.
typically, a few hours later, a dispute will be sent.

    hope paypal improves its system.

as stated on my starter thread, i don't want to discuss it.
But i would like to say it can happened sometime :)

Just simply send email mention that you need godaddy's undo any change in domain name transfer and assume it was happened in error.
Not necessary to say in detail unless GD asking for further explanation.
    My email just like this:
    That's all

Sure i read it since your thread on sticky status.

I have no experience to receive money on my MB, frequently i use MB just for pay something.

Hey dude, i smell something fishy here. Do you get your money back? that's why you don't want to tell us the status of your money on PP???
if you're getting back your domain(s) AND your money and you don't give it back to the buyer (real owner of that Paypal acct) you could fall into the scammer level too dude.. I hope you're not. ;)
    just my 2 cents. :)

I also smell something fishy here.

GoDaddy never returns domains like that. If it wasn't sold through GoDaddy, they don't get involved. Period. I know this from experience. The whole "undo" process at GoDaddy is a crock of shit.

Sorry, but you're new here and your story doesn't add up. This forum is filled with people who lost domains at GoDaddy and they didn't get them back from GoDaddy. Ever.

Read through the forums. There are many people here who have never had GoDaddy return domains to them.
They've tried proof of fraud, undo process, mistake, you name it.
GoDaddy never returns the domains. The stories are all over this forum from members who have been here years. You've been here a few months.

My own experience is the same as everyone else. GoDaddy did not help me. They weren't interested in hearing from me and I know why. It is not in their best interest. If they don't return my domains to me, then they may have the opportunity to confiscate them and resell them for profit when invalid WHOIS is reported.
