AVG Alternative?

    Seems AVG Anti-virus is going paid at the end of this month.

    What is a good replacement? Of course free :)

    Avast is excellent. I have it on every computer I own, business and personal.

    I even have it on my Windows servers.

    Honestly, it's worth paying the small amount for a year or 2 of anti-virus, it isn't much. I payed about £30 or something like that for 2 years cover not long ago (got 50% off by using some code I found). TBH it's not much money to part with for what it protects me from.

    Buy McAfee SecurityCenter. It's SO worth it.
    I used to use Avast! Free and AVG Free anti-viruses in the past and they did NOT detect what McAfee has been detecting and removing for me! :eek:

    The amount of trojans that you can get from a single mp3 download is ridiculous, and they will NOT be picked up by free AV.

    Save yourself the hassle and go out and spend a few bucks on McAfee SecurityCenter. Best Buy and Staples always have deals on the software for like $4.95. :eek:

    I alos recommend avast. I use it to replace norton and there have no problems.

    I am use Avast. It is good. For a test yo can use it. After 7 days you can say it is good. Some time is it best. Because it is free.

    I have already changed my Antivirus from AVG to Avast 15 days back and i must say that its really working well. Give it a try and you like it also.

    Don't do that. McAfee takes over your computer...it really does. Hardly lets you do anything without authorising it (kinda like vista)

    Not sure if it is only me, but Norton was giving me a big headache with receiving and sending of email. Tried it in the office and had tons of difficult especially with the rejection of emails being send out.

    I heard that Norton slow down your system, is that true ? Due to that i haven't renew my Norton which preinstalled on my laptop and change it to free Avast.

    No it's not true. You'll only notice a difference if you have a Pentium 3 processor or below...

    Anybody here using AVIRA? I feel that this one is worth considering and based on my own experience, after using it for 3 months, I haven't had any trouble with infections or slowdown in performance.
