    My opinion.

I think your web site has got no niche. No doubt it is comprehensive by emcompassing all areas, but unless you focus in a niche area, say cooking tips, you will not witness a change in revenue.

    Sorry

Basically when you have less ad units on the page, there's higher chance for high paying ads to appear. Unless you are in high paying ads niche, webmaster should really consider using only 1 or 2 ad units on every page.

Less = more is one of the starting rules of adsense IMHO. Don't allow the cheap ads to come into play and the chances of people clicking on your better-paying ads increase.

Yep, seems pretty common sense. Users are usually drawn away if there is a huge influx of adds just everywhere.

Its true. I added another AdSense for content block for 3 days to test this, and my earnings per click went down significantly (about 33%). I'll try and see what happens if I have just one AdSense content block and no links or searches (since they don't make me much anyways).

I'll post the results back up here for ya'll!

I, too, have seen a benefit of using less ads per page. The payouts and even the CTR have gone up as a result.

hmmmmmm...I'm really skeptical of this idea, but I'll try it out and remove some of my ads...but I doubt it'll work for me because my clicks aren't worth that much...10-30 cent on avg

I wish I got 10 - 30 cents a click every day, I almost get that now with the less ads! For an entertainment site that would be great, I could retire early ;)

I just used all 3 content units and all 3 link units ... that gives me the highier clicktrough and biggest earnings as long as I have 1 ad in hight of visitor's forst look and 1 ad + 1 link unit above and bellow main content (for example a wallpaper) :D

The value of ads depend much on what keywords you have on your site and the geo traffic!
On my website most expencive ads are targeted to UK visitors, football of course.
My site is about football, and my clicks are almost always worth $0.10/click aprox!

If you see and ad saying "Free screensavers, Free wallpapers ..." be sure that those advertisers will not pay you $0.10 for click to their site ...
If you see an ad saying "Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa ..." yeah, those are the ads that pay me well!

Then when a good day comes, and when premiership matches are played I take 2 video ads from UnrulyMedia (if they have advertiser budget) that are UK targeted and I earn 2-3 times more with 1000 UK visitors then with 6 adsense units that count clicks from all around the world. Strange, but it is like that!

One time, the 1500 UK visitors brought $250 earnings in 30 hours ... can you belive it?

I noticed this about 12 months ago. I guess it makes sense to not have low paying ads competing for clicks with high paying ads. As far as the CTR goes I think that once somebody is in the "mood" to click on from a page they'll hit just about any ad, best that it pay a higher paying one.
