Don't you have library at your University and what about the book lending system in the university. When I was at college, I used the library effectively...

We have a library, but the books we need are not there... I need the books for a whole academic year, and in the library you can have the books only for 4weeks...
So only 1 option, buy myself :(

Buy the books from your seniors, they will be far more willing to selling the books since they have no need for them already.

    Try out http://www.alibris.com

You can get books for 1/3 the price. Of course they are used, but they tell you what condition they are in on the site.

How about scholarships? I thought there are usually two types, one for high achievers and another for needy/poor students in need of loan.
Depends on where you are from, sometimes banks can also offer study loans.
Either way, get corporate firms to sponsor your course tenure. I think there are far more options than what I can mention here in my post.
