There is a grace period from the date of expiration.
It's not advisable to wait till then...but depending on when your
VCC provider gets back...if worst comes to the worst, you do have some cushion there.
The voucher idea sounds like a good solution and would be available right away.

I don't see a problem to pay to GoDaddy with PayPal. The procedure is a little bit longer... and you can pay to them using Credit Card anytime you want. Another option is to switch your domains on autorenewal

Not sure whether or not you can transfer a domain from Godaddy with a week left...never tried it.
I know some registrars cause problems if you attempt to transfer within 30 days/15days (etc) of expiration.
Not sure if Godaddy is one of those registrars.

What I do know is that you should allow for at least 5 days worth of
    transfer time...sometimes more.

You can make payment to godaddy via check or paypal - if your having trouble renewing I would call in and have them try running it on their end.

If I remember correctly Paypal gives you the option to add checking account information to your profile. Maybe that could be a workaround you could pursue in the meantime.

I suggest you transfer. I think if you transfer to topgrabs.com or namesecure.com you get free year.

You definitely can use PayPal via checking for GoDaddy. I do it all the time. The problem is probably on the PayPal side of things.

Here if you are renewing .com domains then use PROMO CODE CHH3 at godaddy Check out and this will renew you for $6.95/yr

If you are renewing any other extensions then use CHH1 at check out and this will get you 10%. This is also good for webmail addresses.

    I hope this helps a bit =o)

Be warned there may be a substantial fee if you wait until after it expires, not sure when it starts but it goes up to $80 I think at one point.

I have used Paypal on Godaddy and have never had any problems. You can always call one of the reps at Godaddy and I'm sure they would be able to help out.
