    Hi DP members.
I have a website with black color background. I read some where in an article that the Google prefers white background over black. Please share your experience.

I believe this is not true.

I read somewhere that sites with white background are usually more successful, as they tend to have more credibity than those with black background, but I don't think Google ranks websites as of their background color.

as long as it can be spidered properly and google can see the actual text, i dont think this is a problem...

I don't think a site's background has anything to do with SEO. I think it's just coincidental from a point of usability and the type of sites that use black backgrounds. Large content sites just tend to be based on a white background.

Right. I don't know of many successful sites that have a black background.

Most probably google doesn't care what's the bg of your site, however it's common sense that black pages are less visitor friendly.

I wonder if there was an experiment done about which one converts better :D

As long as you don't overlay the text of the same color it doesn't matter. Otherwise you can get in trouble.
