meep9 i dont think you quite understand what concept im trying to get across, and as you are a proxy owner you should be aware that servers/hosts tend to go down if they have proxies on there servers as they are very resource intensive, im not simply pitching load balanced hosting, that would involve simply switching between a a few servers. we currently have ten servers on the rack clustered together (not load balanced as there all working as one) but we only have one server on when that server reaches its limit we send a request to our api bring another one two three or nine online, all working as one when the traffic dips down we send another request amd turn how many off them off, we can have the option then to load balance between clusters if we wish. does that make more sense.

it would be free all i would ask is a link to our site

Think of a web proxy as a browser in the form of a web site. That browser allows you to access web sites which may have been blocked by your country, work place or school.

So what is the point if you own a Forum, of banning an IP number, all they have to do is go through a Proxy site.

B1gft, it is mostly to do with people having limited internet access, and can not access popular websites.

Not so much to with privacy as people are trying to make out.

    Because they are not smart....:p

Btw Is it not so when you buy a new domain that it can already be blocked because its hosted on the same ip?

As some of you may already know, I own a Proxy Topsite (http://www.bypassdaily.com - Feel free to submit your proxy!) and I was wondering who has tried any form of Opt-in Newsletters or Myspace bulletin type promotions to increase traffic? I was wondering specifically, which you have found to be successful and which not so successful.

Also, do these types of promotion have a heavy bounce rate for new visitors?

    Thanks.

    Its fine here.

Perhaps a plugin you have installed?

Although once when i clicked my site from google i had a page with the same meaning but looked very different, it had an option to report the site as fine with why it was fine, few days later problem went away.

No, haha. Weirdest question I've been asked for a while. I bought the domain and developed it myself with a modified skin of the default Aardvark PHP topsite skin. I've noticed a lot of these Yahoo groups now and I think I'll invest a small part of my advertising budget there to start with and monitor the results closely.

    Thanks for the heads up.

I have a feel for how CGI and PHP can manipulate and push out content, but I'm a bit at a loss for the business model being discussed which appears to involve an ability to rapidly build up traffic and links . . . and may often result in getting blocked for building traffic in "illicit" ways. I don't see how masking an IP address is the core of a "proxy site"

For example, I'm referring to literally the very first post in this thread from Aug 2006 where antman says "There is ALWAYS demand for proxies." and "[4] Create a network. Sooner or later, your proxy will be blocked. Solution? Start another one. Then that gets blocked, so start another one. Thus, a network starts to form. After a while, you will be very $$$ but be careful about overloads on the server."

What is this business model all about? Is it just providing a service to people who are otherwise blocked from accessing other sites a way to sneak into those sites? And if so, how does the proxy site provider earn any money?

    @ Meep
That worries me cuz my totally non-advertised proxy is receiving 75 % traffic from middle east ! .....

I hope am not next on AdBrite's line.....

    ....................

    @tommygswfc

I think this 6 weeks is a good enough time for developing an EDU+proxy website ! and completing the SEO part of it .... am currently thinking of something like that !

And as i said before ! .. target "Indian Students" since schools and colleges are starting again !!!

    @ Will

    Nice competition dude :p

    @NashTax

Is that mozilla 3 ? ... have u tired other proxy websites?

.... and also wanted to pop a simple question for everyone !
I thought of giving away a few glype templates ..... Usually design stuff like the website i asked you people to review!
and some friends really like GRUNGE and URBAN/STREET art kinda templates ...

So i just wanted a public opinion on

What kinda template do you like on your website?

-Template thats ELEGANT (usual 2-3 color stuff not much graphix)
-Funky YOUTHFUL stuff ...High on Grahpix
-Or something else(plz specify with example !)

    tripad, i would block them!

At one stage 99% of my traffic was mostly from that part of the world, but it wasnt an issue then.

I have fully blocked them now, i redirect them to other proxys :)

I used to block them, now I don't block anyone. In fact I used to think Iranians and people from United arab emirates were living much poorer then us. But I was wrong. Here is random Pic I just foun on google images of a city in UAE. Did you think anyone with billions of $$oil will be living worse off then us? ;)
The most problem is they don't speak english.

And in Tehran, Iran they have very advanced Subway system throughout the city.
