What is the 'Fad' Right now?

For a while it was forums, then paid posting, then paid article writing, then myspace friend adders, then myspace pimp sites, then proxies, and now I'm not sure.

A fad is a craze or popular. What is the fad business right now in your opinion?

I think it may be gaming sites but I'm not sure. Usually fads will make you money easily. Keep that in mind.

Yeah they make some money not as much as older fads did but they make more money than anything else I can think of at the moment. Not to mention the specific audience is easier to catch.

I think Facebook is a BIG fad right now. Internet marketers should (and are probably aware) that is a great marketing tool. However, I do think it will last longer than MySpace. Some can argue that Applications on Facebook ruined it, but that is one of the great opportunites for internet marketers to promote their products.

I've noticed on DP the fad is those lame Pay to click sites. But on the internet in general I'd say it's probably very simple designs with crazy ajax implementation.

Facebook is definitely a good way to make a lot of money right now, either from running applications or internet marketing. I run a bunch of apps and make between $4k and $7k a month from them and growing :) I don't do the internet marketing thing too much myself, but I do know a lot of people who made good money doing it there. Get a facebook bot if you're gonna try :D

That works for you? I tried to do that ages ago but I found it easier to design and create websites for people and host them on my server as part of the deal. I just couldn't manage to sell hosting all on it's own.

I don't doubt that it's possible, but the few I knew dropped off DP. I think maybe a person can earn around $5-$50 a day on a good app. On popular apps I can see maybe $50+ a day.
I currently advertise through the ads on facebook and I get one click every 10,000 impressions. They're quite random as well. I've never had the same click from the same app twice. I payout 60 cents a click. In a day I get around 20k-60k impressions.
Maybe they own multiple apps? I'm not sure. I'm debating developing an app myself.

IMO those are just spammers. They didn't used to be here so damn much but now they are.

Facebook was the professional version of myspace. Apps were added as bait for the younger generations like the teenies. Only a few my friends and family use the apps and they're 21+ However my brother's page, (he's 15), is loaded with apps along with his friends.
It's also a great way for facebook to make the buck.

How to get girls, It is almost sad how many guys pay for a friend of mine's ebook. So, he felt bad and started giving it away. That is DEFINETELY one of the fads among people 15+.

People actually pay for that? SAD! I never thought they did.

I owned a site for a while and only managed to make $10.00 from selling links.
    Maybe IPhone sites.

I know I hate Apple otherwise I'd be developing some sites myself. They're horrible with support and in the long term.

Like the first Iphone was thrown out there without thinking of upgrades and the future. It was a scam. Get more money and get guinea pigs to pay out of the end for it.

The 2nd Iphone was probably already in the development and testing stages when the released the first phone. Why didn't they just make the first phone upgradeable? That's the problem with Apple, when you need to upgrade you need an entirely new system.

With other companies you can modify/upgrade your system. It takes an average of 5-7 years before your computer/phone is completely out of date. With Apple it's about 1-2 years. In a 5 year span I spent about $5000 on 2 apple computers and I spent about $1200-1300 on self built and a pre built regular PC. This included software.

yeah man, the key is good monetization ;)

I usually get between $.75 and $1.00 CPM on my app ads... so I make a good bit there each day, but I make a TON more on my CPA programs, like Offerpal. What Offerpal does is gives your users a feed of CPA offers they can complete for credit, tracks the offer status, awards the points to the users, and deals with the customer service. It's pretty bomb. Of course they take a small percentage, but I would never even notice if they didn't tell me. A lot of the offers payout between $3 and $9, so even just 15-20 users doing offers each day, and you're making some decent money.

So just to be clear.... lets say you have an app where people send each other gifts, but they need credits to buy the gifts. So you make them earn credits by doing the Offerpal offers. That's a very simple example, but that's how it works... :D

and let us know if you need an app built, we can make anything you want :D

The thing about iPhones and the similar is that eventually there will be more editions of the iPhones, and your site will be relatively useless. Its like having a Playstation One site ;)
I think proxies have only stopped because its the summer holidays, which means that kids in school dont need to use them unless they have really strict parents who block stuff lol

I think they stopped because there's new software out there. I had created a fresh proxy and no body used it except me. I went to school and it was blocked. How??? It was a new domain and everything. I think they're choosing what sites can be made available to schools.
I usually use a google translation as a hack to get to sites.

Probably Twitter, but that has settled back down. The new iPhone/iPhone apps are hot currently but I don't think the hotness will last as long as the previous iPhone.

Yeah like I said before Apple has been known to create cool items but they become outdated faster than fashion trends itself.

I'm sure you'll see an Iphone 3 advertised in the next 4 months. The only difference being about 4gb more room and 4 new colors.

You know Apple is big on releasing the exact same product with a bit more space and 4 'new' colors. Everyone is better off saving their money another year and buying the best version this year. They'll be sure to kickoff Christmas with a new version.

A domain that pluralizes Iphone or NewestAppleGadget are good domains because unlike other gadgets apple never leaves out a version long enough to make a fair amount of money.
