HostGator or Godaddy??

    Hi!

I have most of my domains registered at Godaddy...so I'm thinking about using them for hosting my sites. But I like HostGator...for no particular reason.

Any thoughts on either? My sites aren't going to be huge or anything...

    thanks!

    Well depends on two things.

    1. Do you like fast support? Hostgator prides itself in providing you with fast support via live chat. Godaddy has a slower support response time and you have to use the email system.

    2. What control panel do you like? You will not get " cpanel " like you do with hostgator at godaddy.

Both have great uptime. It just comes down to what you need / want.

I hear bad stories about godaddy. Plus its never good to register and host your domains at the same place, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Cpanel will mae your life easier. It basically gives you access to loads of tools, ftp (not that I use that, I use filezilla), databases (and well all the tools you will need to administer your site.)

Definitely do not host with go daddy. Compare some hosts and you'll see that Hostgator should do you fine.

As per my observation in both quality and service-wise also interface-wise Domains @ GoDaddy and Hosting @ HostGator are always the best :D

Compare the hosting, especially the GoDaddy Premium plan and the HostGator Swamp plan, and you will see a HUGE difference for the same price ($15USD/Month). Since your site will not be too big, you may want to go for a smaller plan. Definitely go with HostGator for the hosting but you can get your domains cheaper at GoDaddy. I switched my hosting from GoDaddy to HostGator for several reasons, mainly the large increase in space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited domains and many accessories and I also had some issues with GoDaddy being too slow at times and have not had any of these issues with HostGator.

Was not impressed with Godaddy hosting, but still register all of my domains there. Hosted many sites with HostGator (for years now), and eventually became a reseller for them. Very, very happy with price, reliability, and support.

Site5.com is way better than both of those options. I've had them going on 2 years, best hosting/customer service ever.

Why do you limit yourself to these two hosting companies? GoDaddy has a horrible reputation for hosting because of limitations, and HostGator is alright (but my account was hacked when I used them).

Why not try The Prime Host? Their hosting is great everytime I use them and they don't oversell. Support is excellent as well.

Hostgator beats Godaddy just fine, but there are other companies that beat Hostgator as well.

I used both godaddy and hostgator in the past. Godaddy have alot of limitation and to upgrade to where you want, it would cost alot more! Hostgator tells you upfront what they offer and they're pricing is reasonable.

LunarPages use the this coupon "25offHosting" comes to 70.40 for your first year. You can point all your domain names from the godaddy control to your lunarpages hosting account.

You can host an unlimited number of sites under your one account
    Unlimited email addresses.
    1500 GB of Space
15,000 GB of Transfer Bandwidth a Month
Plus all kinds of Bells and whistles.

Call Jennifer at 1.877.586.2772 give her the coupon code and if you would tell her David Malton sent you :) I have been hosting with them for over 3 years now with no problems. Plus they have a kick ass referal program, pays 65.00 every referal. Dont know how they do it making 6 dollars after the coupon it works for me and I get monthly checks.

    Hope this help.

I guess I'm going to go against the trend here.

I've used GoDaddy for all of my domain purchases and hosting plans. I've never had a HUGE website where 1000's flock to it daily, but on a smaller content website, GoDaddy has never caused me any problems.

GoDaddy's customer support (IMO) is awesome. They're available 24/7 via the telephone and they've always solved any questions or issues I've ever had.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is GoDaddy isn't a horrible place. They have cheap domain names and cheap hosting plans for starters. And a simple Google search can get you 10-20% off your orders with them.

I would choose Go Daddy over hostgator. Ive been using it for about 2 years and im still satisfied with it. Their customer support is really great and they are cheap too.
