Best webhost for a Forum

Ok, I am tired of all the error messages I am receiving with my current host. Everything is fine until there are 3+ members on, then it starts to crash.
I am looking for the best host I can get for forums. If you own a high traffic forum, please post your link and name your host.
I am looking at MediaTemple, they look like a very solid host. Any other suggestions?

If you use MT, try to avoid their grid server or whatever it's called these days, it's not very fast for php+sql sites. What forum software do you use and how much users do you peak at? Do you use a lot of mods/hacks?

My forum is in my sig, it is very new, only 5 days old and i'm having problems. I have a few mods installed.
I'm not looking for a VPS, the grid server looked good. Especially since they just launched a MySQL SmartPool v.2 and MySQL GridContainers. They have a money back guarantee, if it is contract free I think im up for it. I've heard ALOT of stories about their downtime, but I think they are still ok.
There could be tons of other better hosts out there I dont know about.

Suit yourself, though you can find a VPS contract-free too and without having to pay extra for your own SQL container. Also, 1TB of bandwidth for 20$ is a bit iffy to me, but I'm guessing since you're hosted with Netfirms you like oversellers :D.

I'm guessing with a VPS you have a unix os, and that I would have to manage it. I have zero experience so I don't think I would be able to do it. Plus im looking for a host for around 200 -300 members, even though I dont have half that, I can upgrade to a VPS anytime. So I want to start out with a shared hosting plan.

I don't think (MT) oversells their hosting as bad as netfirms does. I did a reverse IP and found they are hosting 1000+ websites on the same server as mine. There is a coupon code that gets me -3 off monthly, so $17/month isn't that bad. I will never use 1TB of bandwidth, and if I ever do I will automatically get upgraded to a better server which will probably be better for me. Can I get some second opinions here?

Media Temple isn't good for large applications like forums. You'll run into alot of problems.

Do you mean 200-300 people constantly viewing your site? Or 200-300 people who have signed up on your site?

Please go with a host which does not host more than 100 domains on a server and your forum will be great.

I've used both their grid server and I am currently with their DV server (a VPS really)

grid server was powerful but had some troubles (mostly scheduled) and I decided to move to their VPS solution about 3 months ago and they have been great so far. I get 5000+ unique visitors a day in the sites hosted on the DV.

You can also read a more thorough review of my experience with media temple

I am looking for a web host that can handle a medium sized forum that has maybe 100-200 visitors on at any one time. Right now I am getting ready to launch the forum and so would like a host that I can upgrade as I have more users. My hope is to have the forum a blog and my website all on the same domain. I am in the process of building a large team of real estate agents.

Please give me some suggestions of web hosts that would work now as I start out with my blog and grow the domain to carry a website and forum.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hey, try totalchoicehosting. My mother has a decent size vBulletin forum. I think she has about 50 users on at all times, and her site works good and performs great. She's on the cheapest plan.

Also, they go Monthly, so that should fit you.

My friend's used hostgator in the past. I don't think he's had any issues with them either.
