Hi I am planing to submit one of my website's url to yahoo travel directory, I will pay the fee, but I ma not sure if it will work. Can somebody share his experience about that. How many visitors I may get per day? thanks
Thats alot of money though. Some say it helps if you have a bussiness. I never get any traffic from yahoo and often i also wonder if paying would help
I think people mostly do it for the high PR that Yahoo directory has, rather than for traffic. I've not done it myself, so my advice is second-hand, but I have heard others say that it's best to check the PR of the specific section that you are submitting to.
I don't get any visitors from my Yahoo Directory listings. If you want traffic, then the $299 may be better spent elsewhere...
I did that last year and will not do it again, They buried me so deep that their was not even a pr available. I dont even see it on any linkbacks. My opinion keep your money and spend it somewhere else.
Then why does why Google list yahoo directories in their guidelines for webmasters. Yahoo directories will help its links are recognized as coming from an authority site however you have to take into account the sites you are competing against and how many and the quality of links they have. 300 dollars would buy you a lot of article submissions and press releases I have found this to be the most effective way of getting traffic from backlinks and aiding search result positions for most keyword terms. From Matt Cutts regarding paid links from directories Q: Hey, as long as we’re talking about directories, can you talk about the role of directories, some of whom charge for a reviewer to evaluate them? A: I’ll try to give a few rules of thumb to think about when looking at a directory. When considering submitting to a directory, I’d ask questions like: - Does the directory reject urls? If every url passes a review, the directory gets closer to just a list of links or a free-for-all link site. - What is the quality of urls in the directory? Suppose a site rejects 25% of submissions, but the urls that are accepted/listed are still quite low-quality or spammy. That doesn’t speak well to the quality of the directory. - If there is a fee, what’s the purpose of the fee? For a high-quality directory, the fee is primarily for the time/effort for someone to do a genuine evaluation of a url or site. hope that clarifies things for you.
This can either work out very good or very bad, I always like to take a risk but $300 is alot. If it was me id go for it. Just alittle advice.
In Yahoo directory you will be paying only for review and not for your link. Hence it is not be considered as paid link directory.
Even though you do not get any click directly from Yahoo but it improves your ranking in other search engines. Try it, this is my suggestion. I tried and got lots of traffic, not only from yahoo but yahoo mails, etc, that I saw on my web log, that I dont even know what that is.
I have a couple of sites listed on yahoo - some of them bring a couple of users every day / others did not bring a single user since they are listed. It really depends on the category of your site.
yeah 299$ is way too much, you know you can feed a country!! nah,but really there are other ways to get pagerank with that money.
