.co.nr is also free. But as it was said above, free domains usually show a lack of officialism. For example, if Paypal was paypal.co.cc, it would be very hard to trust there services.

    Basically, they are useless domains.

The average internet user doesn't know that. I don't even know they are free and I been buying domains for 2 years now. LOL

The REASON why it lacks officialism is because .co.nr or .co.cc sounds retarded or unmemorable, not because its free.

Very true point there. A lot of people when told a website will assume .com, then .net, then .org. No one would ever guess "co.cc or co.nr"

Free domain usually comes with ads. So i think if you need to get a domain name, just buy one with a small fee $10/year, or use sub-domain of some free web-hosting (no ads)

You can even get domains as cheap as $5, even if they are .info. :p

It's worth the small fee to be adless. ;)

It is not a free domain, it is a subdomain of co.cc. I really won't recommend it because the real ownership is not you but the owner of co.cc. Nowadays, domain names are cheap, it is better to have a domain name that belongs to yourself.

i dont really like free domains, i would want to have domain that is "mine" because a free one usually means that you are marketing the domain for them and possibly get money, but then when you get a new domain, the old one will probably stay the same but will only generate traffic, money, and stats for them.

Yeah youd be crazy to devote your lifes work to something that can be deleted on a whim. I can't figure out for the same reason that people build multiple sites on blogspot or other free hosts that you have no control over.
