Hi everyone, I have a website, which i recently targeted to google.nl, the bad part of this story is; the ranking in google.com has gone bad. Now, I have also other websites, actually many, which have Suriname and Holland as focus. People in Suriname don’t use google.nl much, and people in Holland don’t use google.com much, I want my rankings to be good in both situations. Is there any suggestions on how to geo-target to these two? And please, save me the ‘you have to make 2 websites for two countries – talk’ as that is not really a solution in my case. How can I geo-target my domain to two different countries, so they can be found very good in local Google search results? Thanks in advance.
Make your website with 2 languages. Sure, if you are targeting Holland a .nl domein will help, but it's only a small factor to get a domainname of the country you are targeting. Same goes for Suriname. To put it in other words, a .com website in the Dutch language will score better then a .nl in the English language if Holland is what you are targeting. Have different titles if the page is display in a different language. Good luck!
Thanks everyone for the suggestions and help. @ seo_watchdog: I have also been thinking to use two different webmaster accounts. Don’t know if that can cause any problems though. @ soolman: the local language here in Suriname is Dutch also, and also I checked my signature. The links seem to be working nice. @ free bet: thanks for the advice.
The links "Appartementen Suriname" and "Vakantie verblijf Suriname" have 3 slashes in the URL : http:///www.silvionsapartments.com Doesn't work for my browser (IE 7.0)
This is what I see in the source code : Appartementen Suriname | Vakantie verblijf Suriname Your other 2 links in the signature are ok. You might just want to check you signature in the User Control Panel. Because I don't think it's helping you. http://www.besmartgoogleit.com/search?q=create+hyperlink
@ seo watchdog: I tested that feature, by using 2 different webmaster accounts, but that doesn’t work. When you change in account B (suppose you have two accounts, one called A and another one called B), the country to e.g. X, it automatically changes in account A to X.
