I haven't done $6k/month campaigns, but did upto $3-4k/month and still doing it, and did it for years for some clients. At first is not as easy as OP sound. For second cash really needed just to be in good health comparing with competitors. When keyword is REALLY hard to rank this numbers are regular, even kinda low.
They always say that SEO traffics is f.ree traffics, i don't think so.. SEO takes times and money to invest before you can see the result for some particular keywords. If you focus on wrong keywords then your campaign is wasted. My advice to you is 1) use google adwords to run you marketing campaign 2) identify which keywords bring you the most sales (don't 100% rely on keyword tool search results) 3) Then only optimize that keywords for organic search. this is more practical instead of doing "blink" SEO. p/s: sorry for my grammar, i am not from English educated background.
what would you want to rank 1st for "cash" ??? Big waste of money to me. Get more targeted keywords, I'll be easier to rank high, drive more relevant traffic to your website and make people happy they click on the link. It's a win-win-win situation. With high ranking for cash, you will get tons of traffic....but what matters to you? Number of visitors or numbers of sales?

For finding the right, you should check for the background and also expertise in particular industry as well, as SEO , need lot of connections in order to achieve the highest success.
I want cash because I want volume traffic. The website is NOT selling any services, its for free, its pure free and just a financially related forum. So traffic volume is everything, not targeted as I am not pitching anything.

I understand that...but there are literally hundreds of online AND OFFLINE methods that will drive steady TARGETED traffic to your site...and will cost you less than SEO
