If I pay the 299.00 to Yahoo! What sort of Page Rank and Traffic increase can I hope to gain in percentage? Thnks
Here is a real life case study by Allan Gardyne: http://case-studies.sitesell.com/affiliatemarketing-ag-1.html He submitted a site of his to Yahoo directory and shared his results.
I have done this and the traffic was very minimal. I did not notice a jump in pagerank either. So I don't think it was worth it.
you get pr even if you can't notice the change - most people won't understand that pr doesn't have to change because the pr can be divided better among inner pages of your website.
NONE. I did the same as suggested in http://case-studies.sitesell.com/affiliatemarketing-ag-1.html and NOTHING happened due to listing in their directory. Everything depends or real actions - participating in forums, submitting articles, YahooAnswers, natural traffic from SE, of course etc. MAYBE back in the old days (that case study is at least 4 years old, I guess) that bore some significance and people were searching directories more than now. But for me the listing didn't give ANY traffic at all and was a complete money waste. Yeah, by the way my website is http://www.belly-button-rings-guide.com/ and now it's getting 300 visitors daily on average and earns me around 300$ month in affiliate commissions.
Most people get in for the PR cause to be honest, it ain't going to drive much traffic, if any at all.
I think there are probably quite a few ways you could put the money to better use in fact you could pay for hosting/domain costs for another 2 or 3 sites with that amount.
Well, I'm sure we all congratulate you on your reading habits, but it was a bit of a pointless post unless you're going to give us at least a hint.
I have though about it, but seriously...there is no way in hell I am paying a search engine $300 to put me in their directory. If it's that exclusive, then it is not for me.
300$ is way too much, you should just buy sig links at DP ....now that is definatlity more productive.
I don't think there will be much gains for both pr and traffic. You can buy a lot better things for your site using $299.
The only wonder, is if this link will increase your sites autority, resulting in eventual serp increases? In terms of its PR and traffic flow, it is definetly not worth it, but does it pass some form of authority?
Good "on-site" optimization alone can get you a top 10 ranking in Google. I don't see how submitting to just one directory will effect that.
Better spend that money on promoting your site in other ways [Content, contests, seo etc] Or put that money in some new venture or .......
If the directory deliver 100 targeted visitors a day then I would definitely pay the money because that's 3000 visitors a month. But who's to say those aren't just other webmaster trying to find a home for their website?
