Hi all, I run some searches on my directory list and found some interesting stats... 181 directories using the word 'web' in their name 92 using the word 'link' 6 using the word 'add' when it comes to choosing a name, people prefer the sure bet...
If tomorrow I'll start a new directory, I would go for a brandable domain name... I think I have the web, link, and directory keywords in all of my directories for now..
usinging "web directory" keyword on domain seems to be more important in Yahoo however guess this should be Google focused, No !
Brand names are always the best. Those who are serious about their project must always focus on establishing themselves. Though its funny to see how people constantly follow a pattern of having niche related terms into their domain names.
Keyword in domain is also valuable in google search. Just search for any simple keywords, and you will find the first ones are those domains containing the keywords.
Easy to remember.. but its not easy to establish a brand name and promote it. Its take up $$$$$ from your pockets.
Well, ofcourse - nothing is free. Any type of decent returns in traffic will cost 100's of thousands to get anywhere - especially with a G directory. This is why you must be inventive with your marketing and create campaigns with out of the box thinking. Just don't go too crazy, and keep it simple!
People who use "web", "link", "directory", etc. in their domain names are targeting webmasters. People who are trying to establish a unique list of of websites go after a domain name that focuses on what they are offering their site visitors...not the sites being listed.
