Considering getting back into Adsense- Advice Sought

    Good Evening Everyone

2 to 3 years ago I set up 4 sites and either wrote my own articles or copied other peoples's articles from such sites as E Zine articles and Go Articles. I then placed "Adsense Ads" on the pages.

Between January 2006 and August 2006 (if I remember correctly) I saw my income increase from a couple of dollars per month to $350 per month-then my income dropped rapidly to a few dollars per month -not even covering the cost of running the sites-so I closed them down.

If I remember correctly the reason for the sudden drop in income was due to Google changing their algorithms in so much as they frowned on using duplicate content.

I am considering having another go with Adsense and was wondering if any of you can give me an update on the best way forward/any tips on what not to do i.e. do Google still frown on duplicate content? If I write my own articles and put them on Ezine Articles with a link back to my site will that be viewed as duplicate content?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Is there a particular site that you can refer me to which provides such advice free?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thank You.

Why do feel such a need to publish your articles on another site?
Why not publish them on YOUR OWN site?
Then your duplicate content problem is solved.

Publishing your content on two different sites is always going to be a problem. Why do it?

Publishing on E-zine is for marketing purposes really I would think? Google still frowns on dup content.

Advice: do not use duplicate content. There is a reason google penalises it.

Also, from my experience adsese is not worth it anymore. The amount you get is too low these days.

I have switched to affiliate marketing :)

You can put your articles on E-Zine and other article sites for backlinking and marketing purposes, but I would do it only after you have posted it on YOUR site first. Once google crawls your site and registers it there, then you won't get hit with the duplicate content slap.

Writing your my own articles and submit to article directories with a link back is allowed and won't be considered as having duplicate content. Although there has always been argument on whether sites found with duplicate content will be penalized, don't bother so much on that and as long as you continue to supply and update with fresh and unique contents, that will be the right thing to do.

Again - Thanks to those of you for taking the trouble to respond to my thread. Your comments are much appreciated.

Could I just clarify the following, as some of you seem to have a difference of opinion, would it be considered acceptable to publish an article on my site and then submit the same article to say Ezine articles with a link back to my site?????

    Regards

    Alan Hope

In that situation, because Ezine is a big site, your article would probably get indexed on there before on your site.

Then when google finds the article on your site it will see it as duplicate content and not index the page.

Thats not good as you want as many pages from your site as possible to be indexed.

The best way is to use 2 diffferent versions of the article rewritten with different wording.
