You can put your content in HTML tags that do not allow users to copy it, but sometimes it's good when your content is on other sites and there is a link on your site, it makes your PR higher.
Yes...thats true...and the link is with appropriate anchor text then it will also help to incresae SERP ranking.
There's no stopping other people from republishing your content. Even if you take legal actions, that would mean taking legal actions to so many publishers which is ridiculous. You just have to live with it. Just make sure your page gets indexed right away after publishing your content. Digging or Stumbling should do the trick. This way, all other content published that are duplicate as yours will be treated as duplicate and yours will be the original. You might also wanna put links to your other pages in all your content so even if they are republished, at least you get a link back to one of your pages. Unless, of course they remove the link. If that's the case, you can't do anything about it.
What do you mean that you have to give them a backlink to "protect" your content? Have they told you that if you do not put a backlink to there site, then they will keep copying it, and if you do put a backlink to there site they will stop copying it? If so.. is it in writing? Cheers James EDIT: Just to add.. Do they have AdSense on there site? if they do then http://www.maxpower.ca/stopping-adsense-splogs-spammers-methods-that-work/2006/09/13/ Also, I would do as others here have recommended and do not syndicate a full RSS feed.. When you publish an article, the moment it is live, scan the URL that the article is on using Copyscape, (That way there is a record of it in the copyscape database with time/date stamp) then set up a Google alert for the opening title or paragraph of the article. (Copyscape supplies Google alert with the alert information) Then if someone copies your content and refuses to remove it or give you a link, at least you have evidence that you published it first.
Did they Copy or syndicate ? If they syndicated, have you given access to full RSS ?? If they are copying every single article of yours, it means they are coming to your site every day/ when ever you write new article. Try to track down the IP where they are visiting you from. Use .htaccess to block them from visiting your site. that should help. Keep us informed about what action you took. /G
Thanks for valuable suggestion.....But it not particular for one visitor or one site.....you never track them as alots of blogger and alots of website holder do that...so how many .htaccess i will use to stop them.......
I had a similar problem. I used to notice regular visits from a particular IP, pretty much on a regular basis - say once a week who would run around my site looking for latest content. All the request were coming from a predictable series of IP. Thats how I could keep those folks off.. If you have a similar situation you probably can do what I did. /G
Copyscape is pretty good and should help you you, will need a pro account it costs some money but its worth it!
These days, Google claw more fast, much fast, I think from them side, they are also aware this problem and what to decide which one is original by themselves as they can. 2nd, try put some special words, like your site name, domain, author name etc, and some hot-link to your website or catalogs into the article, make the article hard to steal but easy to copy, and may, if you luck, bring you back-links.
