suppose I'm considering to register domain for word apple ipod which is better between apple-ipod appleipod which is better for search engine ? we assume that both of domain is not registered yet how search engine will compare both domain format ? pls advise
That would be the better idea. Either way, they would both yield about the same. It all comes down to word of mouth and advertising.
If "appleipod" is available, use it instead of "apple-ipod". Ordinary people, when typing URL; find it much easier to remember those URL without hyphen.
If appleipod is available as your domain go for it but if it's not, your choice is apple-ipod...good luck buddy..
I prefer no hyphen's along with everyone else. As far as search engines go I can't imagine it makes a difference although as far as the human mind goes the hyphen would be forgotten.
I do not know about the argument against using a hyphen. As far as search engine optimization goes, it really will not make any difference. Human factors engineering though is really the discipline you need to use to determine if hyphenated addresses are better or not. Will people remember your site better if each word is seperated by a hyphen, or if it is all one run-on word? Before the net became so engrained in our lives, I would have said that hyphenating is the way to go, but now that everyone is using it, people are used to run-on words. But there are some standouts like www.penny-arcade.com that certainly buck the trend.
I have noticed that many people just type what they are looking for in the address bar as an address. EX http://appleipod.com or videogames.com and so on Not sure why people do this but I have seen it done and feel that with the hyphen you lose these people.
