A bounce occurs when a web site visitor leaves a page or a site without visiting any other pages before a specified session-timeout occurs. One of my site is having a specific page with more bounce rate along with good traffic. Will anybody suggest ways and means to get my visitors to stay on the page?
I personally did two things to reduce my bounce rate: first I customized my WP template for a much more professional template. This reduced my bounce rate of about 10% because visitors thought it looked like a professional blog. I used 'own site' ads. I placed a banner on my article that generated the most traffic but also the biggest bounce rate. What was that banner? Simply a little something saying "Also visit x article" or "If you enjoyed this article you will like x article". So I was just linking to a related article... Overall I reduced my BR of about 12%.
The best way to overcome the problem is by building internal link structure connecting every pages of your site and ensuring that visitor could stay longer instead of leaving.
the best plugin to use for this is the plugin called if you liked that you can see it at work at www.choseit.com on the right hand sidebar it gives a list of related posts to a maximum of your choice, this alone wont stop the bounce rate fully therefore you should also use internal links in posts where appropriate, for example if someone comes to your blog loing for article directory sites also include internal links to rss feed and blog directory sites posts. Another way is to have a landing page competition XD post 15 comments and you will get an email requesting a paypal id for a $5 bonus! . . . or somethinng like that XD prefferably the first one.
I would like to suggest you strictly follow Google analytics. Find out where you are getting traffic and on which keyword. Identify that keywords which is not related to your present content. And remove that stuff which is also not related to your blog or site.
