I started a thread in DP on Jesse Helms the day he died. I used quotes about him from three websites. Then as the discussion started I put his name into a google search without quotes looking for more info, the thread was listed as #1 for over 24hrs. I was shocked. My question is how did this happen? I didn't use any SEO or link building. If you view this thread give your opinion.
I figured out why some forum threads rank so fast. They have scripts that automatically submit to digg, stumbleupon and the other sites like that. The social site and the quick call rate makes for high rankings. Its brief but it still works for forums.
I have had a similar thing happen a few days ago, I added a post into a popular forum and then when doing some searches for the answer to my questions, guess what first page of the results there was my post in a little over 24 hrs on the first page. I think these bigger sites get crawled alot, especially when there is so much new content and if you get lucky and you post the day before a scheduled crawl, well there you are in one day in the stats, if you post just after the crawl cycle maybe would take 1 week to be indexed, but I think sites with plenty of new content and lots of links to them and from them get found easily and update all the time.
I didn't realize that. Are you saying that the whole thread is submitted to Digg etc, because this could occasionally be seen as spam? I've noticed an incredibly fast Google rank rate for particular topics. It's like it has been said, big sites such as this are crawled more frequently.
Generall it is happen. Suppose you started a thread in DP. When you search it on google you can get it on first. Because search engine love those sites who have so many pages. But...But it will be happen with very very long tail keywords or the title you use in the thread. But if you are talking about the big keywords it will not happen big sites and forums can not help you in this condition. Thanks
Google fetches data from the external.php file here at DP in the same way blogs ping Google, that's how Google is able to know about the thread so fast. Also DP has a ton of backlinks and authority which is why it ranks so high initially. However it's a short, fresh content boost and you will find that ranking has died off within a week unless it's a really non-competitive term.
if you wrote content about him, amounting to basically an article, then the bulk of that DP thread would have been focusing on that subject. google will rank a page on it's content specifically, and not the nature of the site. so what you got was like a PR7 (or whatever DP is now) page with related content that went up probably before a lot of other sites got it. that's how you ranked number 1.
It is just because of DP's online reputation due to its content and millions of backlinks...and this is the reason when we start any thread it starts being visible on Google at very starting rankings.
Do you think if we submitted the sites to digg and the other social sites it would give a temporary boost in ranking?
