I agree with Depv, lately Googles search results seem to be going down hill. An example is if you search for anything software related you end up a bunch of links to either qarchive or brothersoft.com. On the other hand when you search for something like "php torrent decoder" you get a bunch of worthless results that don't really tell you anything till you get to like 8 pages back. I miss the good ole days back when you could search for something and get something usable.

They've already let it be known that they changed their algorithm to favor the sites that pay them the most money, and to cut out the one page sites and multiple redirects to one page affiliate sites. They're looking for content now, and really sticking it to affiliate salespeople, because their largest clients complained that affiliate one page sites were ending up on page one, and they were pushed back to page two.

So now you get the huge company and content sites first, and all the one page affiliate sites, if you can find them at all, are pushed back to page 10.

Actually, I'm happy about it, because I work hard to have a content site, and it used to tick me off not end that I was on page three, and the affiliates were on pages one and two, and some of the listings all went to the same pages.

Yes true however the problem with that plan is that you really don't get what your looking for from a visitor perspective. When I search for information on torrent decoding I dont want all the torrent sites, I want the smaller information pages about torrent decoding.

On the other hand as a website owner yes it works better for me, but how does that really help when the people that come immediately leave because that wasnt what they were looking for.

Traditional uses of google to find information instead of products for sale, or sellers, is still being favored I think, and that's the real popularity of google. I don't see a problem w/ the search results. My site and four other qualified service/information providers are showing up at the top, and anyone looking for what we offer will find us.

Don't you think though that the balance between information and business has kind of been lost on Google?

It's very common to see search engine rankings change. New sites are created everyday and SEO tweaking may even change on the position ranking. If you feel that your ranking has dropped then it's time to reanalyze and rework on the SEO part.

True, i've been running many side-by-side comparisons with Google and Yahoo and on a lot of search types Yahoo is better. Heck i've been watching some sites in Google running your basic Javascript cloaking for weeks happily holding their top 10 placements.. If Google can't even detect this 10 year old tactic, they have big problems.

If only Yahoo would drop the junk on their homepage and leave us with a simple searchbox.

I got strange traffic lately. Most of them from Google Image.

keep up your bulshit google, and everyone will be going back to yahoo.
This is a disgrace. big business prevails again and the little guy gets snubbed.

Yahoo search results look so much cleaner.

Lately I have noticed the search results in Google are getting less relevant to my search. Nice to know others have noticed this too. Don't really want to switch search engines yet, but it may be time.
